Everything you need to know about Piglet, the Dublin wine bar at centre of Katherine Zappone controversy

For those that don't know, Piglet is a wine bar in Temple Bar and is the brainchild of Enrico Fantasia and Thibaud Harang.

The popular drinking spot can be found at 5 Cow's Lane, on the Christchurch end of Temple Bar.

The small, cozy wine bar boasts an ever-changing food menu and the wide selection of fine wines.

It is open 7 days a week from 12:30-9:30pm and has an upstairs gallery for parties of 24.

In recently revealed text messages between Katherine Zappone and Leo Varadkar, the former minister said that she was sitting in Piglet.

Zappone texted to enquire about her appointment as Special Envoy for Human Rights and LGBTQ+ issues.

She said: "Hi Leo, from the Piglet! I was expecting to hear from Simon C about my appointment as Special Envoy for Human Rights and LGBTQ+ Issues.

"Have you heard anything?

"If you around next Wednesday hope to meet you."

The former minister went on to invite the Tanáiste to an event in the Merrion Hotel.

The event occurred on July 21st, six days before it was announced that Zappone would be appointed the newly created role, a job that pays €15,000 for up to 60 working days plus expenses.

The former children’s minister later turned down the envoy role amid criticism of her appointment.
