Everything We Learned From ObsessedFest: Off Campus, The Love Hypothesis & The Rise Of BookTok TV

Prime Video flew me to Los Angeles for its very first ObsessedFest, which on paper sounds like a slick fan event, but in reality felt more like a full-blown convention for the fangirls who’ve been carrying the culture on their backs for years.

Think Comic-Con energy (and thankfully not Tana-Con), but swap superheroes for morally grey love interests, fake dating tropes and absolute chaos.

If you didn’t get the chance to attend (or even knew the event was happening until it was too late), here were all the major announcements and tea I collected being boots on the ground.

The crowds it drew in were huge. (Image: Vivien Killilea/Getty Images for Prime Video)

ObsessedFest was a fangirl’s fantasy

The biggest takeaway is pretty clear: Prime Video has found its lane, and it’s leaning hard into YA and romance adaptations. There were panels, screenings, merch stands, book club sessions, musical performances and genuinely elaborate activations where you could step into fictional worlds. Briar U stans could live out their Off Campus fantasies, while Legally Blonde lovers could fully immerse themselves in Elle Woods’ orbit.

It felt like a true acknowledgement that these fandoms — often dismissed as niche or unserious — actually hold real cultural weight.

There were even meetup opportunities with your favourite authors and stars. (Image: Vivien Killilea/Getty Images for Prime Video)

Off Campus leads ObsessedFest with cast panels and a surprise J.Lo moment

Off Campus was, unsurprisingly, the centrepiece. The cast packed out their panel, and while there was still no season two release date announced (devo’ed), the message was clear: this is Prime Video’s priority franchise.

Also, Jennifer Lopez casually showing up to perform “On The Floor”? Not something I had on my bingo card, but the scream I scrumpt when she appeared was insane.

Josh Heuston was around across the Off Campus panels, but notably didn’t take part in the international press line — so no, I could not extract any Fourth Wing crumbs. Fan-casting truthers, you’ll need to keep manifesting for now.

The Love Hypothesis trailer drops as Prime backs rom-com adaptations

We got our first look at The Love Hypothesis, starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman, and it’s aggressively cute.

As someone who’s a bit cautious about how BookTok gets translated onscreen, I actually rate the decision to make this a film rather than a drawn-out series. Peek the trailer here:

Every Year After season 2 confirmed after weeks of speculation

After plenty of online whispers, Every Year After has officially been renewed for season two. It wasn’t a huge dramatic reveal, but it didn’t need to be — fans were already halfway there.

Amy B Harris, producer of Every Year After just confirmed we are getting season 2 at Obsessedfest!!! #obsessedfest #everyyearafter

Overcompensating season 2 brings Zedd, spring break chaos and deeper storylines

The Overcompensating panel was the only non-adaptation title featured at the event apart from Elle, and it was easily one of the most fun, with updates that ranged from genuinely emotional to completely unhinged.

Zedd is set to appear at Yates University, tied to a spring break storyline that includes Wally Baram (Carmen) in “fairy wings and platforms” apparently. A classic look IMO!

At the same time, the show will explore heavier themes like grief and death, which I think could potentially be connected to Carmen’s brother.

We’re also finally getting a look at Grace’s (Mary Beth Barone) college room (about time), and it seems like George (Owen Thiele) will have a bigger presence next season. The actor teased that his character might not be as secure as he first appeared.

I need it NOW (respectfully). #overcompensating #owenthiele #benitoskinner

When I asked creator Benito Skinner what he’s “riding for” in season two, he told PEDESTRIAN.TV: “role play”. Interpret that as you will. Side note: he also told me he loved me, so I’ve peaked.

I’m sat. #overcompensating #benitoskinner

Your Fault: London and Mercedes Ron’s “House of Ron” era at Prime Video

Your Fault: London kept things relatively tight-lipped when it came to future instalments, despite there being a fourth Culpables book (the English translation is yet to be released).

Author Mercedes Ron told PEDESTRIAN.TV: “I want that to happen like I’m a fan so I will do I will try but who knows not for now we just launched Your Fault: London so let’s see”.

@pedestriantv

Since author #mercedesron has written a fourth #Culpables book, will we be getting a fourth movie in the franchise? #culpamia #yourfaultlondon

More broadly, it was revealed over the press weekend that Ron has signed a first-look deal with Prime Video, signalling a deeper creative partnership (and, unofficially, the rise of the House of Ron).

“My relationship with Prime Video has been great, they’re my family now, I’m really happy and excited for what is coming,” she said.

Meanwhile the stars of the London franchise had their own ideas. Matthew Broome said, “I wanna see us just on holiday. I want just complete mundane drama between us raising a kid. It’s nothing heightened. It’s just like, who’s gonna take the kid to school?”

Asha Banks added: “Can we be like in Greece or something though?”

@pedestriantv

With author #mercedesron having written a fourth #Culpables book already, I see the vision!! #yourfaultlondon #matthewbroome #ashabanks

The Devil’s Mouth, Jenny Han universe crossover dreams and quiet Fourth Wing hype

We also got a look at The Devil’s Mouth, and I learned that its leads Gavin Castalegno and Lana Condor had never actually met before filming, despite both existing within the wider Jenny Han universe with The Summer I Turned Pretty and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Which feels incorrect, spiritually.

I don’t know why, but I always pictured Jenny hosting a Christmas party for the all the Han universe alumni where they all talk about how beautiful they are. Happy to host, just BTW!!

What ObsessedFest says about Prime Video’s YA future

For a first run, ObsessedFest felt like a pretty confident statement. Prime Video knows the audience it’s building for, and it’s not treating them like an afterthought.

And if this is the starting point, it’s hard not to wonder what next year looks like. Off Campus set the tone this time, with a literal J.Lo performance, so expectations are… high.

The Summer I Turned Pretty crew as headliners next? Feels likely with the movie in the works. So could that mean a Taylor Swift surprise moment?? A girl can dream!!
