Everything we know so far after man blasted with shotgun

Police are investigating after a man was blasted with a shotgun in broad daylight.

A big police presence was called to Carfield, in Skelmersdale, in the early hours of this morning after receiving reports a man had been shot.

Officers said a 30-year-old was shot in the leg at about 12.30am.

The victim was rushed to hospital, where his injuries were described as serious, but not life-threatening.

After the "concerning" incident, a huge police presence remained at the scene for most of the day while officers carried out enquiries.

Pictures from the scene showed roads cordoned off while officers went door to door to speak to neighbours.
