Everything we know so far about the alleged assault and armed incidents in Swansea today

Swansea police have been responding in their numbers to an incident in the city centre this morning.

They were called to deal with reports of an assault in Croft Street, whilst elsewhere, in Griffith John Street, near Dyfatty flats, there has been a large armed police presence.

Here's what we know so far.

A man has been taken to hospital after an assault

Police said a man had been taken to hospital following reports of an assault in Croft Street.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We were called at about 7.50am this morning by ambulance colleagues to reports of an assault in Croft Street.

“A man has been taken to hospital. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting occurrence 1900146166."

The air ambulance were at the scene

Along with police and the Welsh Ambulance Service, the Wales Air Ambulance also responded to the incident in Croft Street, landing on a patch of land near Dyfatty Park.

A statement from a Wales Air Ambulance spokesman read: "I can confirm that Wales Air Ambulance attended an incident in Swansea this morning. Our crew were mobile at 8.15am and arrived at the incident at 8.22am.

"Following treatment at the scene from our on board consultant and critical care practitioner, they then escorted the patient to hospital in a road ambulance.

"Our involvement was completed at 9.31am."

There were armed police near Dyfatty flats

Elsewhere, armed police have been spotted near Dyfatty flats this morning.

A number of police vehicles including dog handlers have been spotted parked at Griffith John Street.

Two people have been arrested

Police have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of wounding with intent following the alleged assault.

A 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested following the incident which has left a man hospitalised.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at about 7.50am this morning by ambulance colleagues to reports of an assault in Croft Street.

"A man has been taken to hospital.

"A 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

"Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence 1900146166."
