Dear reader, Bridgerton season three is in our rearview mirror and my loins are burning for the fire of another steamy season of the cum-mings and goings of the ton via season four. Okay, I may not be the classiest Lady Whistledown but that wasn’t bad, now was it?
Anyway, in 2021 — just mere months after the first season premiered — the lovely people at Netflix confirmed that we could expect a fourth season of the smash-hit period drama when it was renewed for seasons three and four.
The beauty of the beloved series being based on a book is given us an inkling about what stories we’ll see play out on screen. So, let’s get into it, shall we?

When is the Bridgerton Season 4 release date?
Well, my Bridgerton baddies, hold on to your petticoats because it won’t be long til we feast our eyes on the next horny period romance.
Netflix blessed us with a teaser trailer that included a date announcement confirming that the show will be arriving in two parts.
The first four episodes will debut on January 29, 2026, and the remaining four drop on February 26, 2026.
This is great news considering how long each season takes to prep for impatient eyes. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the UK premiere for Bridgerton season three, part two, showrunner Jess Brownell said they’re looking at a two-year pace for each season.
“The writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up but somewhere in that range,” Brownell shared.
During her ‘yuge tea spill, Brownell elaborated on the time and effort it takes to orchestrate everyone’s favourite period romance.
“I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re towards the end with the writers room season, with the scripts,” Brownell said.
“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language.”

It’s still a little while to go, but on the bright side, at least you’ve got heaps of time to read the books and maladaptive daydream about season four.
Now, excuse me as I try to find a Bridgerton version of Beyoncé‘s “Diva”.
Who will Bridgerton Season 4 be about?
Alongside the minuscule yet hot tea about when Bridgerton season four might drop, Brownell said that online punters will be “very, very happy” with one of the couples the new season will bring in.

While season one and season two are the first two books in the series, season three skipped the third eldest child Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and instead follows the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) — the fourth book of Quinn’s series.
However, the time has finally cum (hehe I can’t be stopped) for Benedict to have his moment and find the love of his life while his sister-in-law writes a bunch of shit about his sexcapades — you’ve got to love family.
Netflix announced the news via a teaser trailer with Luke Thompson looking fine as hell opening up the door to an unseen voice who tells him, “I hear we’re fitting you for a suit”.
Thompson replies: “I already have an outfit for tonight.”
“It’s not for tonight… it’s for the masquerade ball,” the voice then declares as they hand him his costume.
“In that case, come on in,” the actor then says. We must have the same sense of humour hehe.
The season will introduce Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), a maid who ends ups meeting Benedict at his mother’s masquerade ball, and she and Benedict fall madly in love of course. So basically this is going to be a hornier version of Cinderella and I’m here for it!
Netflix just so happened to release a special look at the pair’s budding romance as well as the glitzy masquerade ball in honour of Valentine’s Day, and it’s safe to say these two cuties will make for a bloody ripper of a season.
The pair — both decked out in full masquerade fits — are seen sharing a particularly romantic moment under a gazebo together, with Sophie remarking that it’s a “spectacular night” and Benedict cheekily tells her that he “won’t tell my mother”. Ugh, so sweet.
The quick sneak peek also showed the return of a handful of fan-faves, including Queen Charlotte and and Lady Danbury, as well as sprinkling in some extra-cute moments of newlyweds Colin and Penelope. We stan forever!
In Netflix’s date announcement video, the suspense continues with Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews) narrating a cryptic staircase scene with the two leads. “With each passing season, one is known to experience plenty of ups and downs. So then we must ask ourselves, do we rise to the occasion? As always, time and this author will tell,” she says.
I’M SO READY!!

I’m glad we finally know what’s happening this season because Netflix likes to keep us on our toes! Previously, creator Shonda Rhimes commented that the order of the Bridgerton families’ romances would be mixed up, but did confirm that they’ll all get their turn.
“We’re not necessarily going in order but we are going to be seeing each of the siblings and their stories,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2022.
“I do have a very specific plan of where we go each season — which one is which. Because you really have to start seeding in the other siblings, and what’s going on with them, to push them to the next season.”

Which characters will return in Season 4?
This author is screaming, crying and throwing up because it looks like we will have most of our OGs back on our screens this season. None other than Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton!!!! Happy days!!!!
Speaking to The Wrap in 2024, Nicola Coughlan confirmed the exciting news that she and Luke Newton would be returning.
“They’ve told us we’re back for season four, which is super lovely … It’ll be exciting. We’ll pop back and have some fun for sure.”
This is great news as I’d happily watch another eight hours of these two hotties staring at each other longingly.
Jonathan Bailey (daddy) confirmed his return to the show during an interview on Good Morning America in the same year. “I have a couple of weeks etched out in my schedule for returning,” he said.
AH IM SCREAMING!
As for the rest of the cast? Netflix has released the official cast list which includes: Victor Alli (Lord John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Stirling), Daniel Francis (Lord Marcus Anderson), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), Emma Naomi (Alice Mondrich) and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley).
Simone Ashley (Kate Bridgerton) has also been listed additional key cast, along with Isabella Wei (Posy Li), Michelle Mao (Rosamund Li), and Katie Leung (Lady Araminta Gun).

Netflix is really keeping us fed, because they’ve also announced Bridgerton season four’s leading lady! Yerin Ha will be playing Sophie Baek (yes, it’s formerly Beckett but please don’t make this a thing) and she’s actually a Sydney gal!
My life would actually be made if they played an orchestral version of out national anthem (“Untouched” by The Veronicas).

Is there a trailer for Bridgerton Season 4?
Sadly, we don’t have an official trailer juuuust yet. I know, I know, you’re craving more horny Bridgerton antics. But maybe in the meantime, this official season announcement might be enough to keep you going until the full trailer is out (or, just scroll up and watch the super-cute sneak peek and date announcement that were released).
Months later, while unveiling seasons five and six, Netflix also dropped the following teaser:
And here we have the date announcement:
Look, I’m sorry. I know there aren’t a lot of answers here, okay? I’m just excited!!!!! A whole season about Benedict? You better believe I am SAT.
Anyway, I promise you, we will update this article the second that the full trailer becomes available.
If you need something to fill the Bridgerton-shaped hole in your life you can rewatch all three seasons — and the spin-off series Queen Charlotte — on Netflix.
