Everything We Know About Big Brother 2026’s Rumoured Twist And Spin-Off Series

Big Brother Australia fans can rest assured that their fave social experiment will be returning in 2026. The long-running reality show was rebooted on Channel 10 this year for its sixteenth season and was a huge success for the network, reaching a total of 5.5 million viewers during its run and becoming the most-streamed show in 10’s history.

At the end of the grand finale earlier this month — where Coco Beeby was announced as the winner — host Mel Tracina teased that they would do it all again next year. While Channel 10 hasn’t announced anything online since then, the network did confirm at their annual Upfronts in November that Big Brother was on its 2026 content slate.

So, what do we know about the new season?

Big Brother 2026’s major twist

Two of the biggest complaints about the recent season were that it was too short and aired at the wrong time of year.

2007 winner Aleisha Cowcher told PEDESTRIAN.TV earlier this month that she thought the season started strong, but “scrambled” at the end to ensure it wrapped up before Christmas. Meanwhile, two-time champ Reggie Sorenson told P.TV that she would love the show to revert to its OG filming schedule, where it used to go for around 100 days.

“It’s a shame that it’s not three months, but it is what it is. I hope next year they bring it back for three months,” she said.

Well, it appears at least one of these problems may be addressed in the new season.

According to New Idea, the network is reportedly considering airing two seasons of Big Brother in 2026. One could potentially air in April between Australian Survivor and MasterChef, while the other would air later in 2026 in a similar time slot to this year’s run.

“There’s talk of doubling down while interest is hot,” a source told the publication. “April keeps coming up, but so does doing a second season later in the year if everything lines up.

“As long as Dreamworld, Ten, and the key players are happy, Big Brother has a future… Right now, everything’s on the table.”

How long would Big Brother 2026 run for?

Unfortunately, despite calls for a three-month-long filming schedule, neither season is expected to run for much longer than this year’s four-week stint.

“Ten absolutely wants it around for years to come, but they’re also being smart about how they protect the brand,” the source added.

One thing that fans of the OG seasons can look forward to, however, is the potential return of Friday Night Games

An insider told PEDESTRIAN.TV earlier this month that the nostalgic spin-off show may be on the cards for 2026, with fan favourite contestant Colin Ridley tipped to join OG presenter Mike Goldman as host.

“The Games were appointment television. People genuinely planned their Fridays around them,” the insider told P.TV.  “If they pull it off, fans will lose their minds. It’s the one thing people still ask about.”

Nothing is locked in just yet, but if it does happen, consider my plans cancelled and calendar cleared.
