'Everything was done' — Manchester United cancel Amad loan exit ahead of transfer deadline day

Manchester United have cancelled Amad's loan exit from the club following injury.

The Ivorian winger had been set to join Dutch side Feyenoord, but will now remain in Manchester as he recovers from the recent training injury he sustained.

Feyenoord's technical director Frank Arnesen has said a deal was in the bag until Amad picked up the knock over the weekend.

"He got injured, it's cancelled," said Arnesen, quoted by Dutch outlet AD.

“Too bad — everything was done. I've talked a lot with the people at Manchester United, but it's more sensible to let him recover at that club."

He added: "It may be a while before he comes back."

Amad signed from Atalanta last summer in a deal worth up to £34m in add-ons, before finally arriving in January 2021 as part of the first-team squad.

He made eight first-team appearances for the side, scoring against AC Milan in the Europa League and registering an assist against Leicester in the Premier League.

Speaking last week Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed plans to allow Amad's exit prior to his injury setback.

"Yes I do [expect him to go out on loan]. It’s not 100 per cent signed but we’ve agreed,” Solskjaer said to the club's in-house media.

“I don’t have to say which team it is yet [smiles], but we’ve found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about.”
