Everything to know about the Bristol 10k including road closures and route map

The moment hundreds of runners have been waiting for has nearly arrived.

Soon they will be pounding the streets of the city as they take part and do their best in the Simplyhealth Bristol 10k after (hopefully) some serious preparations.

But such an event means some serious organising, not to mention roads being closed throughout the city.

So whether you are a spectator or a runner you need to be prepared to make sure you are in place and ready to go.

When does the Bristol 10k race start?

It is being held on Sunday, May 5. The time table for each runner is below including when the event arena opens.

  • 07:30 Event village opens to public (baggage services, toilets and information point)
  • 08:30 Start assembly area opens
  • 09:15 START of the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k wheelchair race
  • 09:17 Warm-up for the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k starts
  • 09:30 START of the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k (ORANGE WAVE)
  • 09:41 START of the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k (WHITE WAVE)
  • 09:53 START of the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k (RED UNIVERSITY WAVE)
  • 09:58 START of the Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k (GREEN WAVE)

Where is it? and what roads will be closed?

Starting on Anchor Road near Millennium Square and Bristol Cathedral it runs parallel to the historic Bristol Harbour before continuing along Avon Gorge and taking in the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge.

The return route takes in Spike Island and the Cumberland Basin before heading along Prince Street and the Centre, finally finishing on Anchor Road close to the start line so that runners can meet up with family and friends and make the most of the bars, restaurants and attractions at the Harbourside.

Can I still enter?

In short, yes! You'll have to be 15 years-old or above and entry costs £30. You can sign up here
