Newcastle United were unable to properly pull away from the drop zone on Saturday night after they drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Magpies took the lead through Jamaal Lascelles before Ruben Neves' equaliser saw Steve Bruce's side drop valuable points in a frustrating draw after they dominated periods of the game.
Bruce's approach was a topic of conversation on BT Sport's Premier League Today programme, with host Jake Humphrey discussing the Magpies' form with Robbie Savage and Martin Keown.
Here is everything that was said in the exchange.
JH: It was another improved display from Newcastle, they had plenty of opportunities, but we've got to the point where improved displays are not enough, it now needs to be solely about results.
MK: It does and you have to feel for them because there were a few injuries out of yesterday's game again and we know that they've played better recently. They've created a lot more chances, got bodies in the final third, but they were up against a Wolves team who we know are capable of that if you don't put them away.
Lascelles scored a really good goal, he hadn't scored for a while, it was the captain stepping up having been out injured for a while, but to concede a goal in that manner will have been really disappointing for them having gone in front.
JH: The biggest blow, without question, are the injuries to attacking players.
RS: Saint-Maximin, Almiron, Callum Wilson. The difficult thing is, you were saying earlier it's now about results, but if Steve Bruce resorts back to defensive, no shots on target, and gets results, people will question it, saying they want to see expansive free-flowing football. So can Steve Bruce win? He's been very unlucky with injuries, we know that, but Newcastle fans - and listen, we've both talked about Newcastle...
JH: I think the problem was before that it wasn't expansive, free-flowing football and they were still getting beaten every week. So that wasn't ideal, was it? If they just survive now, I think anyone would take that.
RS: Surely, though, three, four or five games ago, that was the situation. If your remit is to stay in the Premier League, and I don't know what Steve Bruce's is, then you're looking at staying in the Premier League. So, if he goes back to no shots on target and the least possession, it's about staying up. However they do that, it doesn't matter if you defend for 89 minutes and score on the counter-attack.
MK: It seems like Steve Bruce is concerned about what everyone else is saying and how they're performing. Just get the results. To be honest, if Newcastle can find one or two wins, it's really going to slow Fulham down.
Fulham have the momentum at the moment and they're looking at Newcastle who keep losing. We talked about it before, they've lost 10 of their last 14 games and that's really not good enough. That hurts, whereas, with Fulham, they've had eight draws in that same little run. They're picking up points, they're building something and developing.
Develop your team through the week, concentrate on your fixtures, don't worry about the points, that's what Steve Bruce needs to do and there's been good signs recently that they're improving.
