Everything's happening in Helsinki - the latest from the TV blogs

Well, wouldn't you know it - after a couple of duff weeks running around Old New York with a bunch of actors who'd buttoned their accents up wonky, Doctor Who has JUST got back on form, as fully reviewed on The Stage's TV blog. What do the evil Beebies do? Postpone an episode for a whole week! And why?

Well, frankly, it couldn't be a better reason. Yes! That's right! It's Eurovision! But of course you all knew that. How can you not? Whether you'll be flying the flag for Scooch, watching it, drunken, in a sitting room, score sheets in hand, or just studiously ignoring it like every other year, it's Eurovision, so we're talking Eurovision. Deal with it (don't worry, it'll be over very soon).

Blogging the contest from the rehearsal rooms in Helsinki already are the incredibly informative, exclamationtastic and quite fabulous indeed All Kinds of Everything and On Europe. Meanwhile, not in Helsinki but certainly on top of the competition are last week's aforementioned World of Chig and a comprehensive song-by-song breakdown by Mike at Troubled Diva. All of whom have been arguably leading the Eurovision blogging movement for, oooooh, years. Who knows whose coverage of the actual contest will be best, blog-wise, but if I were looking, I'd check all those (and right here, of course ...).

Still, moving on from Eurovision (yes, yes, we're stopping now) - one of the countries that will be taking part (alright, we're stopping soon ...) is the lovely Denmark. And what do you find in Denmark? Yes! Lovely idents. Continuing with my current idents obsession, and slightly closer to home (though, to be exact and geographical and stuff, the blog itself is based in Australia, but whatever) there's also a full collection of the BBC Rhythm & Movement idents, which are surprisingly less annoying when viewed in isolation then when plonked in front of Eastenders.

Speaking of plonking things before, after, or stuck up the nose of, Eastenders (or anything else for that matter), offthetelly had an interesting observation to make about the BBC's plans for over-credit multi-channel promotion. And they ain't pretty.

You know what IS pretty? This archived Finnish music video for a charming song called I Wanna Love You Tender (sent to me by Lucy Pepper). Why they haven't just entered THAT for Eurovision, I shall never know.

Oh, I'm sorry, we're back there again. I know there are those of you out there who would rather watch paint dry, or small insects running about in circles, rather than consider one single second of *whisper it* Eurovision.

Well for you, courtesy of Smashing Telly, is a 52-minute documentary about ants. Enjoy.
