Everything announced at Dead by Daylight’s 10th Anniversary: Scooby-Doo, Terrifier, and film updates

After months of building hype–including a teaser trailer at Summer Game Fest–Behavior Interactive revealed a few exciting announcements for Dead by Daylight at their live event in Montreal, including an update for their upcoming movie, a new survivor, new DLC, a new map, the Black Banquet event, and a whole host of cosmetic collections.

Major announcements include a collab with Scooby-Doo and Terrifier, a new indigenous survivor, and an abandoned mall map.

A director has been found

One of the first major announcements for the stream was given by Jason Blum who came on stage, alongside the developers and other producers, to introduce Thordur Palsson as the director of Dead by Daylight‘s upcoming movie.

While Palsson is not an incredibly well known director, his most recent movie, The Damned, was well received with 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. During the stream, Palsson emphasized that he wants to capture the experience of playing the actual game, particularly the feeling of dread and being chased through the fog.

The livestream also confirmed that iconic locations and characters will appear in some capacity in the movie, including MacMillan Estates, though they were vague in other plot details since the project is early on in production.

Finally, the producers announced that the movie would begin filming in 2027.

While Jason is the newest Killer coming to DBD, a new Survivor is also coming soon to the game. This original character, named Shane Wiigwaas, is the first indigenous person to be added to the game.

Details were sparse in the livestream, but further details are coming later this month on June 25, 2026.

The Casting of Frank Stone

The Casting of Frank Stone, a game developed by Supermassive and published by Behaviour Interactive, is coming to Dead by Daylight as its own DLC in 2027.

Further details will come soon.

A new map comes to the game

Another original map is coming to Dead by Daylight, simply named The Mall. This Backrooms looking area is seemingly an abandoned mall, full of empty storefronts and wide hallways to bring the “liminal space” feeling to Dead by Daylight.

The map will fold in more lore for original characters, in particular Dwight, as the developers hinted towards some of his past traumas being represented. The Mall will come to the game this December.

The Black Banquet event

To celebrate ten years of Dead by Daylight, an event titled “The Black Banquet” is coming from June 25 to July 17. The theme of the event is food, where Survivors must find food to eat and Killers must try to poison the feast.

The recent teasers from Behaviour Interactive, including the trailer shown at Summer Game Fest, seem to be directly tied to this event as the feast and formal event look seems pulled directly from the teasers.

The event comes with a new line up of cosmetics, all themed to animalistic black tie style. Killers and Survivors alike will get formalwear, complete with masks in red or white.

Collections: Ice Nine Kills, Diablo, Silent Hill, and Scooby-Doo

Some huge IPs are coming to DBD in the next year, including Ice Nine Kills, Silent Hill, and Diablo IV. Ice Nine Kills was introduced through a full length music video, with an extra stinger at the end that teased a second part starring Tony Hawk in the future.

Following that was Silent Hill, with two new skins including the iconic nurse. Diablo IV will also get a small collection with a skin for The Artist of Lilith.

The stand out announcement for the upcoming collections is Scooby-Doo, a property fans have asked to see in the game for years. Not much was shown, but a Scooby outfit for Dwight was briefly shown.

Revamped models and modes

New character models and voices, alongside map and weather systems, will roll out in DBD in the next few years. Given just how many characters and places there are present in the Entity’s realm, these updates will come slowly. However, the sneak peaks shown by the developers show that the game will gain a next-gen sheen to keep it going for another ten years.

A few new modes are also coming, though the developers cautioned that they’re still in very early stages of development. These include a zombies mode, in which Survivors must try to cure stumbling undead while a Killer thwarts their attempts, and a 1v1 experience that pits a single Survivor against a single Killer in a pure gameplay loop.

Terrifier joins the Fog

Finally, in the last moments of the stream, Art the Clown in his classic white and black outfit came out on stage alongside an announcement that Terrifier is coming to DBD this November. The announcement was limited to Art’s appearance, so more details are sure to come in the near future.
