Four Melbourne-based artists have developed a large scale work in response to 20th century Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borge’s work. Borge was preoccupied with allegory, and used spatial structures to address abstract ideas. His works were often part-story part-essay. He was interested as to “whether the writer writes the story, or the story writes him.”
These artists – Duncan Freedman, Skye Kelly, Simon Perry and Fleur Summers – have developed a spatially engaging and embodied work. It addresses both Borge’s writing and its associated philosophies.
