Everyone was saying the same thing after last night's Late Late Valentine's special

'Roses are red and violets are blue, but last night's Late Late was enough to make you spew'.

Or at least that was the general consensus on social media after last night's Valentine's Day cringe-fest special.

After the roaring success of the Toy Show, host Ryan Tubridy brought us another of the Late Late Show's annual traditions...

But it's fair to say that this one wasn't quite as well received.

This year's Valentine's Special saw the classic Blind Date-inspired format take centre stage, with a lucky lady plucked from the audience and presented with a host of eligible bachelors.

One of the stand-out moments of the night was James from Leitrim's performance of Shallow from the hit film A Star is Born, which didn't exactly go down as planned.

Viewers shared their thoughts of the spectacle on social media and many were less than impressed, with one saying there weren't enough cushions in the world to hide from the cringe, while another asked if there was a "sick bag" for everyone watching at home.

Galway senior footballer Damien Comer was another hardly able to watch the car crash TV unfold, saying he had his "sick bucket" at the ready.

Another suggested that this is what First Dates Ireland would be like "if it was in Supermacs at 3am", while some found the boys' attempts at sweet-talking just a little too saccharine.
