Haringey Borough's FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie against Yeovil Town was abandoned after the home side left the pitch following racial abuse of their goalkeeper.
With the scores level at 0-0, a 64th-minute penalty was given to Conference Premier side Yeovil, but while Rhys Murphy was preparing to take the kick, Yeovil fans reportedly appeared to throw objects at Cameroonian goalkeeper Valery Douglas Pajetat.
Murphy converted the penalty, but tempers are said to have flared afterwards, with Yeovil's captain and the referee attempting to speak with the supporters.
The home team then took the decision to leave the pitch, with defender Coby Rowe visibly distressed by the situation, as security restrained him. Stewards then attempted to escort a number of fans out of the stadium, but they refused to leave and the game was delayed as players and officials held consultations in the dressing room.
However, the match was eventually abandoned altogether, with Haringey Borough confirming that the game had been called off due to racial abuse.
The football world was quick to respond, with condemnation of the culprits and praise for Borough's decisive action in leaving the field of play.
Aston Villa and England defender Tyrone Mings led the calls following the abuse he suffered on international duty against Bulgaria less than a week before, with the likes of Ian Wright calling on the officials to take proper action.
