Everyone saying the same thing about the 'awkward' Love Island reunion as Laura Whitmore returns to screens

Viewers were left unimpressed by the highly anticipated Love Island reunion with many complaining that it was ‘awkward’ and ‘anticlimactic’.

The class of the 2021 season reunited on screen on Sunday night for the first time since leaving the villa, for an hour and a half long special hosted by Laura Whitmore.

Everyone from the originals, to the Casa Amor contestants and the various bombshells were in attendance - apart from Jake Cornish – who was unable to attend due to “illness”.

Faye made her comments while appearing on Love Island: The Reunion – hosted by Laura Whitmore (ITV)

And despite plenty of drama promised from the mixing of contestants on the live show, disappointed fans took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the "anticlimactic" show.

RTE presenter and comedian Doireann Garrihy said: “The energy at this reunion is so dead and awkward.”

Irked by some technical issues, she added: “Did they even do one dry run of that reunion. “The amount of mishaps and tech problems, for the biggest show on tv…it’s like they think they don’t have to try! #LoveIsland”

Another fan tweeted: “This whole reunion has been awkward. 2nd hand embarrassment watching”.

“I turned it off it was so awkward... I couldn't take the cringyness of it any longer,” another added.

“Another seemingly agreed, writing: "This reunion is actually so anticlimactic no one is giving what needs to be given. Where's the drama? #LoveIsland," someone else commented.

Another said: “I wish this reunion wasn’t just built around revisiting everyone’s worst/most humiliating moments. It’s clear none of the islanders are interested in going there. Just show us clips of them having craic in the villa.”

Another felt that there was no reason for ‘an explosive’ reunion style show, saying: “The thing is there wasn’t really any DEEP heartbreak and everyone has moved on… there was no Amy and Curtis or Amber and Michael type situation that needed an explosive reunion.”
