With reports Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams will become the new head coach of the Phoenix Suns, who will the Los Angeles Lakers hire after they fired Luke Walton?
There’s no official answer yet, but per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, “The expectation is the Lakers will move toward Ty Lue as head coach, but there’s been no offer made to him yet.”
Lue previously coached LeBron James in Cleveland, and as I wrote last month, any concerns the Lakers have about giving James too much power are ridiculous and that “in a funny way, perhaps hiring Lue is the perfect fit, a coach who’s already experienced how to handle a player who’s more like a player-coach.”
