Everyone loves socks for Christmas and now your dog can get in on the action

Fluffy slipper socks are a Christmas stocking staple, but this year thanks to New Look even the four-legged members of the family can get in on the action and keep cosy through the winter.

The high street retailer has launched an autumn winter dog collection, packed with everything dogs need to stay warm and stylish through the festive season, from jumpers and scarves to Christmas hats.

There's even a cute plush puppuccino dog toy for pets who want to carry a travel mug like their owners.

But one item in the range has left some shoppers slightly unconvinced. The firm has launched sets of matching Christmas socks for dogs and their owners.

The packs of six come in three different prints - pink dog heads, Christmassy reindeers or grey stars with pompoms.

While the dog socks have grippy bottoms to make it harder for pets to slip over while running around, some owners were confused as to whether or not the socks were a good thing.

"There's no way my dog would keep these on for more than two minutes," said one Facebook user, "and even then the only reason she wouldn't take them off sooner is she'd want to gnaw off the pompoms first."

The New Look dog collection is out now. The firm is just the latest high street retailer to turn their attention to dog fashion this winter - with River Island, Boohoo and Marks and Spencer all getting in on the action too.
