'Everyone is welcome': New Scottish independence hub officially opens

A NEW independence hub has opened up in the west of Scotland which campaigners hope will be at the heart of the local community.

The Indy Hub, located on Main Street in Prestwick, officially opened on Saturday with the aspiration that it will serve as a welcoming and vibrant space for anyone who shares a positive vision for Scotland’s future.

The community space will host meetings, drop-ins, and public events, encouraging collaboration and conversation about an independent Scotland.

Siobhian Brown, SNP MSP for Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon, attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Indy Hub, where she hailed it as a “fantastic space” for local independence supporters to meet and use.

“It was a real pleasure to officially open South Ayrshire’s new Indy Hub,” Brown said.

“This is a fantastic space for our community - a place where people can come together, share ideas, and work towards building the fairer, more prosperous Scotland we all want to see.

“The energy and commitment across the constituency is inspiring, and I know this hub will be at the heart of our local independence movement.

“I would like to thank everyone who has ploughed time, effort, and donations into this hub to make it happen. It’s thanks to people’s generosity that we can have this fantastic community space.”

The Hub is intended as both an organising base for local independence campaigners and a friendly, accessible venue for anyone who wants to learn more about the cause, as organisers say it will play a key role in grassroots engagement.

The space was supported and funded by Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon Constituency Association, members, and donations from several sources.

Peter Laing from YES Prestwick added: “Independence support is on the rise. YES Prestwick and Indy supporters throughout Ayrshire are delighted to support and be part of this new hub. Everyone will be made most welcome.”
