A new series has come to Netflix and has stirred a bit of a discussion, with many people saying the same thing.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window may have one of the longest and most awkward titles for a show and it has also confused a few people.
It follows Anna, played by Kristen Bell, a heartbroken widow who has become a recluse and has a drinking problem.
Anna witnesses a murder while watching her new neighbours from across the street and tries to get to the bottom of it.
The show with the incredibly long title has become popular on the platform, and has quickly moved up to number one on Netflix’s Top 10 ranking in Ireland.
However, what some don’t seem to get is that the show is actually a parody.
It has numerous cliches of thrillers, particularly of those seen in recent years such as The Woman in the Window, released in 2021, and the 2016 film The Girl on the Train.
Many people have picked up on it, while others haven’t been so quick.
One Twitter user said: “I’m confused as to why The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is so confusing to people. Are we so lost as a society that we don’t know how to identify parodies?? How stupid must you be to miss it completely is beyond human understanding?”
They angrily continued: “From Netflix dropped this thing all the tweets I’ve seen is 'What kind of name is this', 'Did Netflix run out of names', 'Netflix must be stupid'. No, you are, you sack of rocks. It’s a parody. The name is part of the joke.”
Another wrote: “So many people are literally not even getting that what The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window was a parody like the writing and plot were awful on purpose.”
“The ridiculousness of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window made this the funniest thing I’ve watched in forever!!” one user said.
Others simply commented on the length of the title. One person tweeted: “I just wanna know who the hell came up with the title The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.”
One user compared the title to the song The Rattlin' Bog, which is repetitive and grows longer with each verse, while another said it was a “mouthful”.
No spoilers, but many people don’t seem to be too happy with the ending either…
