Everyone is pointing out the same thing about Archie's lack of title

People online are all pointing out the same thing about the lack of a title for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 's son Archie after the couple's tell-all interview.

At the time of his birth it was widely reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to not give son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a royal title.

Meghan revealed that it was not her choice for Archie to go without a title and, as a result, the protection it comes with.

Meghan told Oprah : “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we [had] the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title.

“It was not our decision to make."

When asked if she wanted her son to have the title, Meghan said: “If it meant he was going to be safe, then of course.

“All the grandeur surrounding this stuff is an attachment I don’t have. I’ve been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a duchess.

"I’m clear on who I am, independent of that stuff. The most important title I will ever have is ‘Mom’.”

Twitter users have since pointed out that there are other titled royals lower down the line to succession.

Chipo said: "These people gave Camilla a title but not baby Archie. Prince Harry was cut off financially. [He] only has the money his mom left him. He says she knew what was coming that’s why she saved money for him."

Pam said: "If Prince Andrew’s daughters Eugenie and Beatrice are Princesses, why would Prince Harry’s son not be a Prince?"

Lily said: "To everyone stating 'Harry isn't in direct line to the thrown and that's why Archie didn't receive the title of Prince'. Explain Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to me!

"And to all saying great grandkids don't get titles, how come William's and Kate's kids are all Princes and Princesses?"

Dan said: "Yes we are late to this in the UK but hang on so Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, seventh in the line of succession to the British throne, is given neither the title of prince nor security?"

Under protocols established by George V in letters patent over 100 years ago in 1917, the children and grandchildren of a sovereign have the automatic right to the title HRH and prince or princess.

At the time Archie was born, he was the great-grandchild of a sovereign, not a grandchild.

An exception was made to title Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as due to this patent only Prince George was entitled to the right of Prince.

Some Twitter users accepted that Archie doesn't qualify as prince under these circumstances but that he should still hold a title.

Karenina said: "Archie, as a son of a duke, should be using Earl of Dumbarton, the title for the heir apparent to the dukedom."

Bev said: "The Queen gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Archie, is entitled to the "courtesy title," Earl of Dumbarton."

Peter said: "Yeah but not prince and princess. Archie is entitled to be an Earl if his parents would allow it."
