Everyone is loving Lidl's cheeky remark about Aldi's new square sausage

Budget supermarket Lidl has called out Aldi on Twitter and people can’t get enough of the hilarious rivalry.

Lidl took to Twitter to call out Aldi for allegedly claiming to have invented their new ‘sausedge’ - which is basically a take on the Scottish stable a Lorne sausage.

Revealing the product, Aldi tweeted: "Breakfast just became a whole lot easier… Will you be trying our Sausedge?"

But Scots - and Lidl - were not willing to let Aldi claim this one.

Taking to Twitter to call out the rival budget supermarket, Lidl said: "Things Aldi also claim to have invented:

1. Irn Bru

2. Haggis

3. The Proclaimers

4. Yer Da Selling Avon"

Scotish comedian and writer Limmy also tweeted Aldi jokinly suggesting the supermarket was guilty of cultural appropriation, by tweeting: "This is appropriation." and "Sturgeon must condemn."

However, Aldi soon hit back, replying to Lidl's post by tweeting: "Woah woah woah. Not claiming to have invented it. ‍ We just want to share the Lorne Love with everyone."
