With the UK still currently on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, many people are having to chat to their friends and relatives using video calls and mobile phone group chats.
But did you know that the way you use your group chats and respond to them can say a lot about you as a person?
Online smartphone retailer e2save, has been researching group chat personas and identified the most common ones - and the group chat habits that annoy us the most.
According to their data, 93 percent of people are in at least one group chat, with eight in ten revealing group chats help them maintain friendships and feel connected.
From the person who reads messages but never responds, to those who flood the chat with endless messages and pictures, here's a look at the top five group chat personalities people relate to most.
1. The Lurker
The person who doesn’t respond for long periods at a time but joins in at random points.
2. The Cliff-Hanger
The person who always instigates plans then doesn’t reply.
3. The Changer
The person who keeps changing the group chat name or icon.
4. The Zombie
The person who never sleeps and is always messaging at odd times.
5. The Happy Snapper
The person who bombards the group with pictures.
As well as this, the company's research (1,010 UK adults surveyed) showed that while group chats are useful for staying in touch, many people find them irritating, with 27 percent admitting to always muting chats and 50 percent saying they hate it when some members of the group have private chats within the chat.
Roughly 46 percent of people also said they found it annoying when people didn't reply to the chat withing 48 hours, while 40 percent thought people should reply right away.
Commenting on the findings, Andrew Cartledge, mobile expert at e2save, says: “It’s great to have group chats to keep up to date with our family and friends.
"If you’re a regular group chat user, I’m sure you and those within your group chat will be able to relate to one of the top five personalities revealed by our research."
