Everyone has a laugh as Pat Spillane's pre-match Cork v Kerry prediction backfires

Joe Brolly and former Dubs ace Diarmuid Connolly were quick to point out Pat Spillane's pre-match Cork v Kerry prediction after the Kingdom were sensationally beaten last night.

Peter Keane's side were left shell-shocked after a last-gasp Rebels snatch and grab goal from Mark Keane meant they were out of the 2020 Championship, leaving Kerry legend Spillane with egg on his face.

The RTE Sunday Game pundit predicted that the All-Ireland finalists would have a 'field day' against Cork, claiming that the Rebels had no hopes of competing with Kerry.

The headline of his column in the Sunday Independent read: "Clifford and his colleagues could have a field day. I don't give Cork a prayer against Kerry".

And after the game, his former RTE colleague Joe Brolly was quick to bring up Spillane's pre-match comments - leading to fans joking about the prediction.

The Derry native joked about RTE's Sunday game punditry as he shared a screenshot of Spillane's column, tweeting: "(RTE GAA) punditry isn’t what it used to be".

Also in on the act was recently retired Dublin star Diarmuid Connolly.

And fans were quick to respond, with one adding: "I wonder what he has to say now".

Another said: "I wonder is Pat eating his words now?".

"I've a feeling this was pinned to the wall of the (Cork) dressing room".
