Everyone completely baffled by creature with 'four flippers' washed up on beach

Liverpudlians are completely stumped as to what the animal washed up on a Merseyside beach actually is.

Earlier today, the ECHO reported how a 15ft creature washed up on Ainsdale 's shore.

The carcass, found by a member of Ainsdale Community Facebook Group, was described as being furry and very smelly.

The walker, who found the dead animal, said: "It had four flippers which made it look most weird. And it was furry.

"It was approximately 15ft long and had bones sticking out everywhere, approximately four feet long some of them. Stunk too.

"It looked like it had an extra thing attached to it, maybe it was giving birth and died?"

As of yet, no one has been able to identify the creature. The ECHO has asked the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for comment.

But that hasn't stopped readers on Facebook making suggestions.

Karen Murray wrote: "Looks like a cow that's decomposed to me. Perhaps it's been on a live stock boat to be transferred somewhere, died giving birth and been tossed over board to prevent disease."

Mandy said: "Donkey maybe? Poor thing."
