'Everybody stuck together' - assistant manager Neil Cox on his proudest Notts County moment of 2019

Neil Cox admits his proudest moment of the last year was how Notts County’s staff and players stuck together during their troubled summer.

Ahead of their last game in 2019 at Solihull Moors, the Magpies’ assistant boss reflected  on the last 12 months which has seen the club go through considerable turmoil.

After losing their Football League status in May, the club then endured financial uncertainty which saw staff go unpaid for two months before they were sold to the Reedtz brothers by former chairman Alan Hardy at the end of July.

Since the change in ownership, Notts now approach 2020 with renewed hope they can force their way into the National League playoff places.

And Cox says the club is now brimming with positivity behind the scenes.

“When we had some bad times in the summer, everybody stuck together and we all worked hard,” he said.

“The club has come a long way in a short period of time since the new owners have come in.

“We need to keep that positivity.

“Yes  we want to keep pushing higher and win loads of games, but it’s about building slowly.

“We need  everybody behind us.”
