Everybody loves Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold - but Daniel Sturridge won't be happy

Liverpool don't exactly make life easy for themselves at times. But would supporters want it any other way?

The Reds moved back to the top of the Premier League table with a dramatic 3-2 win at Newcastle United on Saturday evening.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah were cancelled out by two equalisers before substitute Divock Origi struck in the 86th minute.

Yours truly was on ratings duty for the ECHO once again, and was impressed with a clutch of Reds players.

Van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Fabinho were all handed the top score of 8, along with matchwinner Origi.

Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and substitute Xherdan Shaqiri came next with 7.

However, it was a tough time for Dejan Lovren, who notched only 5.

What everyone else said

Of course, other ratings are available. And the national media highlighted two Liverpool players worthy of commendation.

The Mirror considered Alexander-Arnold top on 8 ahead of a gaggle of players on 7. Sturridge scored only 5.

The Mail do things by halves and they had Robertson best on 8.5 ahead of Henderson on 8.

The Express gave Alexander-Arnold the best score on 8, but Henderson, Sturridge and Fabinho struggled with 5.

The Independent also thought Alexander-Arnold was best alongside Van Dijk on 8, but Sturridge was lowest with 5.

Meanwhile, The Times put Van Dijk top with 8 while Sturridge and Mane registered 5.

Finally, the number-crunchers at WhoScored.com calculated Alexander-Arnold best on 8.21, marginally ahead of Van Dijk on 8.20.
