Everybody loves Liverpool's Mohamed Salah but Virgil van Dijk pinpointed as weakness

The 2-0 win over Watford on Saturday may not have been the most convincing, but it ultimately strengthened the Reds' position at the top of the table.

Yours truly was on ratings duty for the ECHO at Anfield and deemed two players to have impressed the most.

Alisson Becker's saves and Mohamed Salah's two goals made the difference, both earning a top score of 8.

Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez were next in the rankings with 7.

However, it was a tough afternoon for Gini Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino, the duo given just 5.

What everyone else said

Of course, other ratings are available. And the national media were impressed by one player in particular.

The Mirror considered Salah and Gomez best on 8 with Wijnaldum lowest on 5.

The Mail do things by halves and had Salah top on 7.5 ahead of five players on 7, including Firmino.

The Daily Star ranked Salah ahead on 8 but Van Dijk and Shaqiri registered a lowly 5.

The Express didn't like Liverpool's performance at all. Alisson and Salah scored 8 but Van Dijk, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum and Firmino were awarded just 5.

Meanwhile, the Independent had Salah top with 8 ahead of several players on 7.

Finally, the number-crunchers at WhoScored.com calculated Salah best with 8.44 ahead of Gomez on 8.04.
