Everybody loves Liverpool's Mohamed Salah but this is harsh on Neco Williams

Never let it be said that Liverpool are just going through the motions at the end of this season.

The Reds continued their strong response to losing at Manchester City last week by securing a second successive win at Brighton on Wednesday night.

Mohamed Salah scored twice and laid one on for Jordan Henderson as Jurgen Klopp's side earned an entertaining 3-1 triumph to edge nearer the 100-point tally.

Yours truly was on ratings duty for the ECHO at the Amex Stadium and two players in particular stood out for the Premier League champions.

Salah moved on to 100 Premier League goal involvements for the Reds to earn a rating of 9, while he was joined on the score by the impressive Naby Keita.

Henderson's overall performance earned him 8, with his late injury the only disappointment of the evening.

Neco Williams had a tough time on his full debut and scored 6, the same as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, none of which were at their best.

What they said

Of course, other ratings are available. And the national media were in agreement over who deserved praise.

The Mirror had Salah, Keita and Van Dijk best on 8 but Oxlade-Chamberlain scored only 5.

The Mail do things by halves and put Salah top on 8. Williams was lowest of the starters with 6.

The Express ranked Salah best with 9 ahead of Keita and Henderson.

The Independent liked Salah, giving him a 9 while Keita registered 8.

Meanwhile, The Times also gave top marks to Salah with 8 but were harsh on Williams, scoring him 5.

Finally, the number-crunchers at WhoScored.com calculated Salah was best with 8.75 ahead of Keita on 7.90.

Alisson was lowest of the starters with 6.14 despite, remarkably, touching the ball more often than Roberto Firmino.

Stats, eh?
