Everybody in North Carrick received a £20 shopping voucher

Every household in Maybole and the North Carrick villages have been given £20 of cash vouchers to spend in local shops.

A band of 100 volunteers has been hand delivering the North Carrick Community News publication which contains the vouchers.

It is part of direct resilience aid worth £100,000 provided by the windfarm funded North Carrick Community Benefit Company.

The vouchers - one for £10 and two for £5 - can be used instead of cash at shops which have signed up.

The delivery was a monumental effort with the co-ordinator Claire Bryan, paid for only 15 hours a week, putting in a 55 hour shift.

The vouchers can be used for any purpose except fags, booze and scratch cards.

The NCCBC is alo operating a basic food, prescription and dog walking service.

Chairman Mark Fletcher said: “The £20 may not seem a lot but when all this is added together £100,000 is being put into our communities to assist residents and businesses.

“North Carrick has amazing communities that can pull together when it matters, and this is certainly one of those times.”

The vouchers can be used until June at:

Kirkmichael Community Shop, Crosshill Post Office, Staiton Stores, Minishant Stores, Maybole Co-op, Maybole Key Store, Maybole Premier, Dailly Road Stores, Top Chemist, Bottom Chemist, Petrol Station Spar, Little K’s Kitchen in Maidens and the Maybole Arms for food.
