Every word said during 999 call made after Elle Edwards was shot dead

A jury has heard the full transcript from the 999 call made after Elle Edwards was shot dead outside The Lighthouse pub on Christmas Eve.

The 26-year-old was shot twice in the head as she stood outside the pub smoking a cigarette. CCTV footage of the moment was also shown in court, as Connor Chapman stands trial for the murder of the beautician and attempted murder of two men, Kieran Salkeld and Jake Duffy.

The prosecution is alleging that Salkeld and Duffy were the "intended targets" of the shooting. Today, Nigel Power, KC, prosecuting, read out a 999 call made after the shooting.

The call is 11 minutes and nine seconds long and is made by Jaime Stanton, who witnessed the incident. The transcript is as follows, Operator: “Merseyside Police…

Jaime Stanton: “Hi, oh my god”, followed by crying

O: “What’s happened?”

JS: “Someone has been shot oh my god.”

O: “Somebody has been shot?”

JS: “Yes”

O: “Where are you, where are you?”

JS: “I’m sorry I’m trying to be calm I’m in the Lighthouse in Wallasey

O: “Just breathe, just breathe for me

JS: “I’m really sorry. There’s at least two people who have been shot…oh my god.”

Ms Stanton continues the call and says the offender has driven off. She adds: “I saw him with the gun…he had a black balaclava on. There was a thing on the end of the gun…almost looked like a propeller. I saw him, I was going to warn the boy, I was going to shoot round to them but I couldn’t.”

Ms Stanton confirmed that the car she saw was black and that she did not know the victims. She also revealed that there was "at least a hundred" people in the pub at the time of the shooting, but that she thinks two people have been shot.

As the call continues, she says one is inside and one is outside. Ms Stanton is crying throughout the call. The operator: “Alright, just calm down alright, we’re going to help them”.

JS: “I’m really trying.” The operator says police and ambulance are on the way.

JS: “A girl, I think someone’s dead….I think she might be dead.” Crying hysterically.

“I can only see two people, someone is doing CPR…should I see if there is a defibrillator?”

The operator says they cannot give medical advice. They ask: “Do you know what injuries?”

JS: “Sorry I am trying to look…. Back of the head, back of the head. The girl has been shot in the back of the head and the boy… I can’t see where he has been shot.”

O:” Did you see the offender?”

JS: “I think the girl might be dead.”

The operator asks again if she saw the offender and if it was one.

JS: “yeah he had a balaclava on, I’m sorry I saw him I didn’t tell them…Oh my god I watched him, I watched him shoot her.”

Operator: “You’re doing your best ok? You’re doing the right thing, you’re doing your best.?”

JS: “Please, there’s still no-one here.” The operator reassures her they are on the way.

JS: “They definitely drove off in a black Mercedes, I saw him….I think they might have gone left towards the Farmer’s Arm pub.”

O: “Do you know the people who have been injured?”

JS: “I don’t know either of them, there is someone still doing CPR on the girl I think she might be dead.”

She says she thinks “the boy” is moving. The police then arrive on scene, and paramedics arrive. The operator asks her to flag them down.

Ms Stanton says she does not know if anyone else has been shot. The call then ends.

Chapman has pleaded not guilty to murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life. He has pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods in relation to the black Mercedes car used by the gunman to travel to and from the scene.

A second man, 20-year-old Thomas Waring of Private Drive, Barnston, is also on trial having pleaded not guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and assisting an offender in relation to Elle's murder.

The trial continues here.
