Every word 'proud' Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi had to say after toppling Leeds United

Nottingham Forest closed the gap on the Championship’s top two with a 2-0 victory over promotion rivals Leeds United.

Goals from Sammy Ameobi and Tyler Walker at the City Ground saw the Reds bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Birmingham City.

They are now just one point adrift of the Whites and two behind leaders West Bromwich Albion.

Here’s what head coach Sabri Lamouchi had to say post-match.

You must be very proud of that result and performance?

“Football is just unbelievable. One week ago I was so upset with them at Birmingham.

“Now, I love them, because they make me proud - but not only me, the fans too. The atmosphere was amazing.

“But the football in this league is so crazy. After three days we have to play again and we need to put in the same kind of performance against Charlton because we need the same result.

“It is so tough and so difficult, we just need to focus on us.

“This was a massive result and a massive performance against a good team.

“But nothing is done.

“We just need to believe more and play with this commitment, this determination and this quality.

“We could have closed the game earlier with (Lewis) Grabban, but he is doing a fantastic job for us and is working a lot for the team.

“I am so happy and so proud, because no doubt the players deserved this victory.”

What can this result do for your team?

“Give me a few weeks and I will give you the answer, because after three days we need to get three points again against Charlton.

“It will be a different game, with a different team and different quality, but at the end, again, we absolutely need to take the maximum points.”

Brice Samba didn’t have a lot to do, but he pulled off one outstanding save, didn’t he?

“He is back!

“We lost him for many weeks! I am joking. I told him that because I joked with him also!

“When he is focused like that he is very important; very important for the club and for the team.”

It was some performance from Joe Lolley, too!

“We could talk about everyone. Cashy (Matty Cash), Tobias (Figueiredo), Yuri (Ribeiro), (Joe) Worrall, Ben Watson, Samba Sow, Tiago Silva, Ameobi, Grabban and of course Joe Lolley.

“It was a massive result and a massive performance. I am so happy for them especially, because they have - not only to Forest fans but to the whole of England.

“That is very positive for them, very positive for the club and very positive for us.

“But we need to confirm it on Tuesday.”

You’re one point off the top two, how happy are you with that position?

“There is so far to go.

“I don’t want to talk about the rankings, I just want to talk about the game.

“We have a game on Tuesday, Charlton at home, then we go to West Brom on Saturday.

“It is just game after game and step by step.”

How do you get the players right for Tuesday, physically and mentally?

“We will see - I need to check on them all tomorrow.

“I have and a fantastic dressing room.

“We will probably make some changes on Tuesday, but not a lot because we have a lot of games, and have played a lot of games until now.”

How pleasing was it to see Tyler Walker get on the scoresheet?

“I am so happy for him - first game back at the City Ground. Welcome back!

“Tyler is a striker.

“He needs to work (on his game) more, but he will help us a lot.

“He was with us in pre-season, but not for too long, so I need to take more time with him to explain exactly what I am wanting from a striker.

“But of course when the striker scores, it is easy.”
