Every word of Son Heung-min's passionate but uncomfortable interview after Spurs vs Man United

Son Heung-min is a man who always wears his heart on his sleeve and that was evident with his post-match interview following Tottenham Hotspur's 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

The South Korean star is known for his beaming smile on and off the pitch and jovial nature but following the Premier League defeat to United on Sunday, which left Spurs six points off the top four, he was barely able to speak to the club's in-house social media accounts.

Son also received racist abuse after the game on social media and in the aftermath of last week's abuse of Davinson Sanchez the club had to release another statement, this time saying: "Another matchday and more abhorrent racial abuse suffered by one of our players. This has again been reported to the platforms and we shall now undertake a full review alongside the Premier League to determine the most effective action moving forward. We stand with you, Sonny."

Here is Son's emotional interview with Tottenham after the game, in which he looked close to tears to begin with.

Jose Mourinho on not being upset, Paul Pogba and pundits

I don't really need to ask you the question because I can see the disappointment on your face...

Yeah, I'm really disappointed this afternoon. I really don't know what to say. I'm really sorry about it and I feel bad. There's always been passion from outside, from this stadium, and those who support us I know are really, really disappointed. I think they're even more disappointed than us so feel really bad and sorry about it. A really sad afternoon.

We were 1-0 up and a lovely finish from you, we did look good though?

(Sighs) I'm really not bothered about the goal. I really wanted to win because, especially after the last game as well I came on half-time back from injury, we were leading and drew and especially to play today I really, really wanted to win and I really did you know. I really don't know what to say. It's....yeah.

The manager was impressed with the attitude of the team and we've got eight games left, including a cup final, we've just got to take that attitude forward haven't we?

Yeah, 100 per cent, 100 percent. I think eight games left so, I know it's always easy to say 'let's be positive' or 'we'll do our best' but I really want to finish well this season because I really do. Six points behind top four. We have to get results and wait for the other teams to drop the points.

We have to do our best and take a big, big responsibility for this season.

Sonny, I've known you for six years and I've done lots of interviews with you and I don't think I've ever seen you so low..

It's a really sad afternoon because...(stops and rubs face) I really don't know what to say. I know it sounds really crazy and it sounds really not normal that I'm down but it's about the results.

If we win I'm really happy and if we lose I'm really down for two or three days. So yeah, what can I say, we have to bounce back next Friday.
