Every word of Peter Drury's commentary as Mohamed Salah sealed Liverpool hat-trick at Man United

Iconic moments in football deserve iconic commentary.

And when Mohamed Salah raced through to claim his hat-trick on the way to helping Liverpool seal a 5-0 victory against Manchester United, Peter Drury delivered exactly that.

Drury was on the microphone for the beIN SPORTS coverage of the Reds' rout at Old Trafford yesterday.

And hundreds of fans have been sharing clips of his words over Salah's actions since the incredible scenes unfolded.

Here is what Drury said for the fifth goal:

"Henderson nicks it. Jota's one way, Salah's the other.

"He's on an Old Trafford hat-trick here Mo Salah...and he captures the moment!

"The man is extraordinary. The match is extraordinary. The scoreline is extraordinary.

"That picture will be framed and kept forever by Liverpool fans all over the world.

"Another Mo Salah hat-trick and this one - THIS one - at the expense of Manchester United, at Manchester United."

Moments later, after the score clicked to 5-0 in the top left corner of the screen, he added: "Do not adjust your set.

"That is not a graphical error. The scoreline really is Manchester United nil, Liverpool five."

And summing up after the final whistle, Drury said: "A scoreline for a generation. A scoreline for a lifetime.

"For the history of English football, a scoreline which will echo down the ages.

"Mo Salah scored a hat-trick, his day.

"Ole Solskjaer has it to drink in. Has it somehow to interpret. Has it somehow to react to. His job feels impossible.

"This for Manchester United was impossibly bad."

The result leaves Liverpool second in the table, one point behind Chelsea, while United are left with questions over the future of Solskjaer and where to go from here.
