Every word of Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi's honest assessment of Middlesbrough draw

Lewis Grabban rescued a 2-2 draw for Nottingham Forest as they had to settle for a point from their trip to face struggling Middlesbrough.

After Ryan Yates had given the Reds the lead, Boro hit back with two goals in four minutes before the break, through Rudy Gestede and Lewis Wing.

But Grabban broke a six-game goal drought late on to ensure his team returned home with something on a night when they were far from at their best.

Here’s what Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi had to say afterwards.

Are you happy with a point in the end?

“We started better than them, but we never made the difference with our quality.

“We made a lot of mistakes - the simple things, positioning, technically.

“I don’t know what was wrong.

“But if the fans are happy with a point, I am happy with a point. But I am not happy with the way we played.

“Of course we need more character and more personality.

“We never ask to play quick and fast, because when you play quick and fast, you can make some mistakes.

“But these were easy mistakes to avoid. Technically it was a very bad game and a very bad performance.

“I am a little bit upset because the expectation was bigger. When you want something important, you need to do an important performance.

“Tonight, the performance was wrong.”

Do you think your substitutes made a difference towards the end?

“You could say the players wanted to come back with something.

“But we needed to start the game like we finished the game, with that mentality.

“At the end, if you are a little bit lucky, you can also win the game.

“We had two or three chances to score. If they give you those chances, you have to take them.

“The problem was the character.

“If you are having the wrong night, play simple. If you play simple, you need to play with your mind. If you play with your mind, you will make the difference, because we have quality in our side.

“We got one point and now we have another game on Friday.

“If we play totally different to tonight and we are lucky to get three points on Friday - after four points at Cardiff and Middlesbrough - it will be a great operation.

“But we need to put in a different performance.”

How pleasing is it to have Lewis Grabban back on the scoresheet?

“We have taken a lot of points because of Lewis Grabban’s goals.

“I was not worried about Grabban. I am worried about the way we played.

“We need to play with more character.

“The team want to achieve something big and we need to play with character, because the quality is there.”

What is the latest with Tiago Silva and his appendicitis?

“I am upset for him, because he will be out for a few weeks.

“I spoke with him yesterday night and he feels much better. He is at home now.

“He will have one more week of rest, then after that we will decide what he needs to do.

“Unfortunately it is like that.

“We miss players at the wrong time. But I never talk about the players who are out, so I will not start today.

“I am just upset for him because it is not an injury, it is just a fate. He needs to take care of himself and he will be back stronger.”
