Every word Nottingham Forest boss said on disallowed goal, Samba Sow injury and QPR draw

Boss Sabri Lamouchi bemoaned a lack of killer touch in the final third as Nottingham Forest were held to a 0-0 draw at home to QPR.

Joe Worrall found the back of the net early on, only for his header to be chalked off as the ball had got caught in a gust of wind as Joe Lolley went to take the corner.

Adama Diakhaby and Tiago Silva had efforts cleared off the line in quick succession in the second half, but there was to be no way through as the Reds missed the chance to go third in the table.

Here’s what Lamouchi had to say afterwards.

Was that a game you should have won?

“Unfortunately we finished the game with just one point.

“I think we deserved more.

“We scored a fantastic goal from the corner, but rules are rules and the ball moved so we had to repeat the corner.

“We created some chances, but unfortunately it was not enough. We missed some efficiency, the final touch and the final pass in the last third.

“But we played well.

“We ran a lot, we fought and we controlled the game; it was just not enough for the victory.”

You had a lot of chances in the first half especially, didn’t you?

“We missed numbers inside the box when we had two nice crosses from Sammy Ameobi. Probably we just had one person inside the box, which is not enough at home to disturb them and create problems.

“But we controlled the game and it was probably one of the best games here in terms of performance, not for the result.

“We played with confidence.

“The conditions were difficult and many players are a little bit tired, but they played well and they tried until the end.”

Do you wonder how different the game would have been if that header had stood?

“At the end, it is just a big frustration.

“To play QPR was not an easy game and everyone knew that from the beginning.

“We started in the right way. We created chances and we controlled the game.

“We played with a good rhythm at times.

“The pitch was not very good, but the players were focused.

Did you lack a bit of quality in the second half?

“I said to the players, we needed to be efficient - defensively and offensively.

“We defended well, which was good. But offensively, we missed; we missed numbers, we missed the last touch and we missed the last pass.

“It was small details.

“We finish with one point and a big frustration.”

Taking your chances would have made a big difference, wouldn’t it - and not just today?

“With two more points, it would change a lot.

“We missed an opportunity - it was not the first one, but I hope it will be the last one.

“We just have to keep going.

“We need to keep playing in this way, but with more efficiency in the last third.”

Why do you think you have struggled at the City Ground against sides towards the bottom of the table?

“Honestly, I don’t know.

“To analyse the game now is not easy.

“I saw my players very down, so I said to them, ‘when I need to complain, I complain, but today I can’t’.

“They tried and they played for the victory from the first to the last second, when Joe Lolley was so close.

“Sometimes we just need to be strong, patient and focus on what we are doing now.

“We will have a good rest and after two days we will travel to Cardiff.”

How bad is the injury to Samba Sow?

“I don’t know if he can be involved in the next game against Cardiff.

“It is a serious injury. But I don’t think we missed Samba today, because we created chances and we played well.

“But of course he is an important player for us.

“It is day by day and game by game (managing Sow’s injury).

“But I don’t think I am the only manager with that problem in the Championship. All managers are looking at their squad and how they are physically, because some players are tired and some players have pain or injuries.

“We need to be smart and clever, and do the right things at the right time.”
