Every word Marcelo Bielsa said on Rodrigo, Raphinha, Hernandez and Leicester City defeat

Leeds United fell to their heaviest defeat of the Premier League season on Monday evening, when Leicester City claimed a 4-1 win at Elland Road.

A sloppy start saw Marcelo Bielsa's side trail 2-0 after 21 minutes thanks to goals from Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans.

Stuart Dallas pulled a goal back shortly after the half-time interval, but Jamie Vardy struck with 14 minutes left and Tielemans netted his second from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Here is every word Bielsa said in his post-match press conference.

A disappointing night, you looked very frustrated in the first half. What was disappointing for you about your performance tonight?

I didn’t distribute the players correctly on the field. It was difficult for us to win the ball back and this caused us to defend poorly.

Did you feel that your players uncharacteristically gave the ball away too much today?

In the first 30 minutes we didn’t have the ball to give it away. We allowed them to play out very easily and couldn't get the ball back.

You did fight back well in the second half, but how much credit goes to Leicester for executing their game plan today?

We had an hour to attack, the last 15 minutes of the first half and whole of the second half.

We couldn’t manage to cause any harm, any damage to the opponent's defence. We didn’t create enough chances given the amount of possession we had over this hour.

We lacked impact. We knew we were going to face a challenge like we did. The help I gave the players with regards to how we could defend better and attack better, I didn’t give.

In terms of Rodrigo and the Covid protocols and Raphinha and his ankle injury, how long do you expect them to be unavailable for?

There’s a regulation in place for people who have been in contact with someone who has the virus. For Raphinha I don't think it's an injury that will keep him out for long.

So Rodrigo - will the protocols mean he will be back for this week or will the protocol mean he will still be missing this weekend against Crystal Palace?

No, he won’t be available for the game against Palace.

How do you feel you should you have distributed the players on the pitch if you say you distributed them incorrectly?

What I explained is that I distributed the players wrongly in the first half and in the second half I corrected this error. You have to compare the two distributions.

What significant do you give to the sequence of play in the first couple of minutes where you very nearly took the lead and they scored? Did that early goal allow them to play with more comfort?

What you say is probable, but we had an hour of possession where we could have fought back.

Why did you decide to take Pablo Hernandez off when you did? He seemed as though he was just beginning to have some kind of influence on the game.

I thought otherwise. Perhaps I am the one in the wrong and you are correct.

I thought that putting on Roberts would be more influential in the final part of the field. And I thought that he was going to give us a different option to the one that Pablo was undertaking.

But I never discard the fact that my decisions could be wrong.

We may have misheard your answer on Raphinha - did you say it will or it won't be a long injury?

It is not injury that will take long to heal.

Hernandez when he left the field kicked a water bottle in frustration. Can you understand that frustration? Would you need to speak to him about this?

No, I think not. If the reaction that he had after I made my decision was to kick a bottle, what can I do?
