Every word Luke Williams said on Notts County reinforcements, Frank Vincent and Solihull plan

Notts County boss Luke Williams has revealed only a long-term injury would result in more defensive reinforcements coming in as defender Richard Brindley nears a return to the side.

The Magpies defender has been absent from their previous two fixtures against Maidstone in the FA Trophy and their win over Halifax at the weekend as he recovers from a minor setback.

With Tobi Adebayo-Rowling also due to arrive back in the matchday squad in the coming weeks, Williams had just one defensive option to choose from off the bench in their win over the Shaymen in Geraldo Bajrami.

The Albanian has shown his versatility of slotting into the back three during the absences of Aden Baldwin and Connell Rawlinson, with many keen to see him return to central midfield to reunite with Matty Palmer, with both influential in Notts' seven-match winning run earlier in the season.

And while the lack of defensive options has been apparent in recent weeks, Williams was confident with the current personnel at his disposal.

"It helps because Baj covers us so well in all of the positions and we have played in a back four at times this season in the trophy and had a good look at that and have practiced that.

"We feel we can sink into a back four if we need to so I am quite confident that we can adapt.

"Richard is not too far away now and so I think we are in a very good place and don't have to rush to bring anyone in at the moment.

"But of course, if we suffer a long term injury, then that changes things."

One player who did return to the Magpies matchday squad last weekend was midfielder Frank Vincent following his return from his loan spell with Aldershot.

After making 18 appearances for the Shots, many believed that another loan move during the January window was on the cards, but Williams made it clear that the 23-year-old was keen to break back into the Notts side.

"Vinny has made it very clear to me that he wants to come back and try to force his way into the team," said Williams.

"As everybody knows, Frank is an incredible guy and his personality is infectious.

"His work rate in training is brilliant, and when you have that type of attitude here you always have a chance.

"The standard of course is very high to get into the team, but if the right moment comes for him he will get that chance on the pitch."

Tomorrow night's trip to the ARMCO Arena could potentially see Williams' side set a new record of 20 games unbeaten in a season, after equalling the 93-year achievement with their win over Halifax.

In their previous encounter, Adam Chicksen's 65th-minute strike was enough to seal the three points in what many considered the Magpies' most complete performance under Williams' short tenure at Meadow Lane.

And the Notts boss was on hand to detail what his side need to do to emulate their performance from earlier in the season.

"We need to carry on in the way that we have been - if we can perform at the level we have in the previous game then we will give a good account of ourselves.

"Since we played Solihull at home I think we have been consistent which is fair to say with our performances across the board we have been fairly dominant and have seen that type of performance regularly.

"So I don't see any reason for us to change anything from that, we just have to focus on the consistency now."
