Every word John Eustace said on QPR 4-0 Swansea City, taking the job full-time and next season

On potentially getting the job full-time

I don’t know. Listen, I took over for as long as it takes for them to find a new manager. Obviously I’m happy in the role but there’s no problems there – all I’m thinking about is preparing the lads now for Friday. I haven’t applied, Les asked me to help the club until they find somebody and that’s what I’m doing.

On what’s next for him personally

I haven’t got a clue, but all I’m worried about is getting the lads prepared Tuesday, rested over the next couple of days, and if I’m here Tuesday we’ll be preparing properly for the game on Friday.

On the high-pressing start

We went to Millwall on Wednesday and the lads were fantastic. They battled and they fought and they were different class. It was important that we changed a few bodies to give us energy on the pitch today, and obviously tactically we approached it differently from Wednesday, and you could see… obviously you give the respect to Swansea, they’re a top, top team, so we knew that and we needed energy in the team, and I think it worked.

On making the two attacking changes from the last match

Of course it’s different opposition and as I’ve just said, Swansea are a completely different animal to Millwall, tactically I think it was right today to do that. It was very harsh on the two boys who played on Wednesday because they were different class, but fortunately for me and the club it worked today. I thought Tomer Hemed came in and you could see why he’s a top striker at this level.

On whether Dan James was identified as a danger-man

The lads have followed Wednesday’s performance going into today.  Every player out there put in 100% for the team, they were very committed, and if you show Swansea the respect they deserve you’ve got half a chance but if you don’t then you’re in trouble.

On the importance of the early goal

Goals change games. We had a good gameplan against Norwich last week and then they scored two early goals and it put us in a lot of trouble. But again, if you score early then it changes the game, and luckily for us we managed to score a few more.

On Geoff Cameron’s absence

Geoff’s been different class for the last two games. He’s come back from a long injury. We needed that energy in the midfield today and the boys in there showed that and I think they did a great job.

On Lewis Walker making his debut

I think I said last week that the academy at the club is different class and they’re producing good players. It’s important that this club, going forward into next season, sees these players coming through. It was a great day for Lewis and we were very fortunate to be able to do that, when you’re 4-0 up.

On the outlook for next season

All I’m worried about is Friday’s game. Obviously there’s no secret that the clubs are making cuts for next year, the financial fair play, all that other stuff that’s going on. But what I will say is whoever’s left at the club will be giving 100%, they’ll be committed to the club. As you could see today, the boys playing, their attitudes were different class.
