Oliver Harbord

Every word Frank Lampard just said on Chelsea transfers, Cavani, Mertens, Giroud and Abraham

Shall we play a game of Deal or No Deal? Dries Mertens in?

"No."

Edinson Cavani?

"I don’t want to play the game. The window is probably 95 per cent shut for us. I know there are hours left of it. The answer would be no to probably I’m guessing the players that you are saying."

Will Olivier Giroud leave?

"No."

Is he happy with that situation, then?

"Olivier Giroud in this window has been incredible as a professional and as a man. We all know that there has been interest and I have sat here in every press conference and said ‘if its right for Olivier, for myself and the club’ and he has been impeccable in that period. I have got huge respect for him for that and as a player. The answer again is no. Will he leave? No."

Has he trained today?

"Yes."

So no problems?

"No."

Alan Smith on what to expect from Chelsea's deadline day

Any ins or outs?

"No, that’s what I am saying. And the no ins means no outs."

Tammy Abraham, how is his injury?

"He has trained today and felt okay. We need to see if there is a reaction because it is a pain injury. There is a lot of pain and even in training he has pain. So I am going to look at that one overnight and test him in the morning.

"He did get out there today which is a positive in the longer term."

How would you sum up the window? Frustrated?

"I wouldn’t say frustrating as I am very aware of how football is. Some things are not in my control. My first thought as always is what happens on the training pitch. It's clear that we wanted to bring players in.

"I certainly wanted to bring players in. I think I’ve made that pretty clear over the last few weeks and it hasn’t happened."

Giroud would be disappointed not to leave, so now get the best out of the situation after the transfer window?

"Yes, it is my job with all the players to try and get the best out of them. In the way I want us to play, the things I want to see of it in each position and get each play to try and buy into what we are trying to do.

"That’s important and it is key across the board, not just with Oli."

Why hasn’t it worked with Giroud so far?

"I am not going into it. I don’t need to go into it."

You have a relationship with Brendan Rodgers, what’s it like and does it go back a long way? Your dad was with him at Reading

"Yes, he was. My personal relationship is more from here when he worked over in the academy. I kept in contact with him to a degree. Not so much in recent years, but whenever I see him we have good conversations.

"I have huge respect for him and how he has worked his way from this academy. This academy not just produces players but it produces coaches. We can see that in the first-team staff and he is a great example of that."

See him as a top coach even then?

"Yes, he stuck out. He stuck out through his knowledge and through his thirst for knowledge. He was already learning different languages. It sounds like a simple thing but I could see that he wanted to do that for football to see how he could open up his thought process. It was clear that he had that on the training pitch as well."

Leicester and players point of view to lose a semi-final and go into this?

"It can go either way, it can go either way. It can inspire or it can stick in the mind for a bit. We can’t assume either. We have to worry about ourselves."

Any new injuries tomorrow?

"No, new injuries no."
