Every word Edinson Cavani's dad said in shock Manchester United statement claiming his son wants to leave

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani wants to leave Old Trafford at the end of this season, according to his father.

He claims his son is not happy in England and that the Uruguay international is keen to return to South America in the summer.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to Boca Juniors in Argentina - something he is said to be keen on.

Cavani joined United on a free transfer last summer, having left previous club Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expired.

He signed a one-year deal at Old Trafford, which means he can move on again for free in the summer if no extension is agreed.

Cavani has scored seven goals for United in 25 appearances in all competitions to date.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have 10 Premier League fixtures remaining and sit second in the table, 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.

They also face AC Milan over two legs in the last 16 of the Europa League, and take on Leicester City in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

Here is what Cavani's dad said about his son's future in an interview with TyC Sports...

“My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

“Edinson is going to end up playing in South America.

“I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

“Edinson had many conversations with (Juan) Riquelme (Boca Juniors second vice-president) and he would like to play for Boca.

“He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca.

“If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.

“By the middle of the year he will return to South America.

“My son’s idea is not to continue there, he wants to return.”
