Every word David Moyes said as West Ham boss launches furious tirade at VAR and Premier League

Can you take any positives, or just about results?

It is certainly all about results but I thought we were better tonight than we were on Saturday. But obviously it is the points that matter.

I thought there were some really big performers, there were two or three who played really well tonight but we needed things to go [for us] at the right times. We had a couple of chances, like we did on Saturday, a couple tonight that if you get it, it makes a difference.

We're not going to be making 15-20 chances in the games, if we're getting three, four or five we've got to take one or two of them.

I've had a chance to see it again, the first goal shouldn't have stood anyway because it comes off his arm and the rules are that if it comes off your arm and leads to a goal it shouldn't be counted, so it shouldn't have stood.

Declan Rice was outstanding, do you need to see other players taking his lead?

I thought they all had a great effort tonight, worked really diligent to do their job. We can play better, some of them can play a bit better.

We came here, saw how well Tottenham played against Manchester United in the opening game and I thought we came here and did a good job on Tottenham.

The first goal was poor and isn't a goal and the second annoyed me more than anything.

We're still in the game, at 1-0 down you've still got a great chance but we've given away the second goal and put an end to it really.

How strong do you feel about the first goal. It was a difficult call …

Have you had a chance to see it?

They showed it a few times…

And?

It is handball but there would have been uproar if it was disallowed

Would there be?

I thought that every ball that hit an arm and led to a goal was to be chalked off. If that’s the rule and if you’re saying it, I was worried that I only had two quick looks at it and it’s definitely hit his arm so if you’re saying that then it shouldn’t have counted.

I am asking who is it making that decision? We scored a really good goal in the 90th minute at Sheffield United and the boy claimed it was handball and we couldn’t believe it.

Do I think it is a good rule? No I don’t. Whoever it was on VAR tonight, didn’t do his job right because he didn’t abide by the rules we were told we are supposed to play to.

Mourinho said it was unfair you had less time to prepare, was it?

I told the Premier League when we came back, us and Tottenham don’t play for ten days. We are not in the cup so why can’t we play Wednesday or Thursday night.

We might have had people fit later on but I think it was a terrible decision by the Premier League and I think the broadcasters would have helped out.

An extra day for footballers, at this level, is so important.
