Every word Arsenal boss Unai Emery just said on Wolves defeat, Bernd Leno and top four hopes

What went wrong?

Their performance [was the first factor]. We started the game playing with control with the ball, with control through our positioning. They led us to play like that in the first minutes but when we needed to get in the box with the possibility to create chances they felt very strong.

They played with the calm to take their opportunity, the first opportunity to take the transition was perfect. They scored from a set-piece after their first important transition against us.

In the 20 minutes after the first goal we lost a little possibility to take patience, to recover our chances. The second and third goals, a set piece and another transition, killed us.

Arsenal player ratings vs Wolves: Leno abject, Koscielny lacking leadership, Ozil ineffective

In the dressing room we spoke of how we needed to recover and be strong in our mind, score one goal was the first idea and after if we can take minutes we can continue in our plans. The second half is different but not enough to take some points.

We are disappointed now but we need also to look at all the season. It’s not in our hands, we lost this possibility do, but we need to prepare the best possible match on Sunday against Leicester City.

If we win, okay it's going to be very difficult again but it's another option we can take.

Why did Arsenal lose their calm and control?

It's not about losing the calm. When they scored we needed to recover quickly our positioning but they continued feeling strong, defensively, in the set pieces and in transition.

Maybe we needed in these 20-25 minutes not to recover quickly because then we can concede options for them in their gameplan. It's transition, repeating transition, and set pieces.

The second half was a good recovery for our gameplan but it's not enough. Three goals was a lot to recover something important in this game.

Above all it's about recovering our possibility, thinking on Sunday, we lost in our hands the possibility to be third. That's more difficult. Fourth, we can recover the possibility.

Fans noticed what Arsenal's Granit Xhaka did during Ruben Neves' free-kick and they're not happy

Are you worried you didn't have a shot on target in the first half?

They are a good team with a good structure, defensively they are strong. They are doing a good season because they have good players. We didn't do in the last third some difference to score in the first half.

We tried but didn't take chances to score. One reason is because they worked very well defensively.

We needed to be more calm, we know here is going to be very difficult. We need to respect them with their moments and also be calm in 90 minutes, imposing our ideas and results against them.

'Goodbye Champions League' - Arsenal fans fume at horrific display against Wolves

They were better than us and worked and played more strong in their gameplan and beat us.

Should Bernd Leno have done better for the second and third goals?

I don't want to speak about individuals. We need to continue together and not look at one player, defensive or attacking.

We need to think to recover our confidence, our good moment. When we were in the worse moments we can recover to take possibilities like we have now.

In the last two matches we lost good options but the last three matches we are going to play we will play our possibilities.

Should the players have stayed and acknowledged the fans?

Our supporters were amazing. They were with us, they helped us and also today they will be disappointed. We need to say to them, we appreciate them being here and we are going to do all we can in Leicester to take the three points.

We need to be together: the players, the club and the supporters.

Latest Premier League top four odds after defeats for Arsenal and Manchester United

We started bottom of the league after two matches and little by little we've come back, progressively taking chances to be in the top four. That's our target but it's difficult.

We have possibilities, it's not in our hands but we have possibilities. These players worked to have this opportunity. We lost today and Sunday and are very disappointed but we need to continue.

We have two competitions - Premier League and Europa League - to get to the Champions League. We will continue being strong in our mentality, confidence and competitive. We will analyse how we can be better in the last matches.

Were you angry at half-time?

I usually am very critical of myself. I am angry with me when we didn't do the gameplan I wanted. My idea, my style is to look in front and find the solution, not who is the player who is playing worse or not doing what we spoke of before.

First I think of the solution. That is to think about Sunday and take the possibility to come back with our best performance to take the three points.

When we win we win together and when we lose we lose together. In general I think we have possibilities to be in the top four.

We lost the chance to have it in our hands but we will continue and take the opportunity on Sunday.
