Every word Arsenal boss Unai Emery just said on Deeney, Watford win and Lucas Torreira injury

What is your reaction to the match and the red card?

I didn't see and I respect the decision from the referee. It's clear it helped us because we played against one less player from then.

It's more difficult [for them]. Our goal gave us the advantage in the result and after the red card also helped us to take more control on the game.

We didn't do all we wanted to do. We can be happy with the result. To win here is very difficult.

What did Deeney say to you?

He said to me something. I can't say to him... I don't know. It's not important [what he said]. I didn't listen to him really. I only answered to him, 'I don't know'.

What was behind your second-half tactical changes?

First I decided to change Torreira because after the red card the atmosphere was against him. Also the doctor said to me in the first half he had a little bit of pain like Thursday and I decided 'ok, it's the moment'.

We were playing with the same system, 4-2-3-1, with Aaron Ramsey and [Granit] Xhaka coming closer to the play and Mesut [Ozil] like a No.10.

We weren't controlling like I want the match and I was thinking to do with three centre-backs can be enough with our build-up and we use one player in the middle like Matteo [Guendouzi], helping with Xhaka, Aaron and Mesut, to make the superiority in the midfield more clear.

But really I didn't make the right decision on the pitch. We didn't have the control I wanted. After I changed to the 4-2-3-1 with Ainsley [Maitland-Niles]. Above all the anxiety was in our team because the second half they can take some moments, the possibility to score in set pieces and second actions.

Unai Emery's response after Troy Deeney's alleged foul-mouthed tirade about Lucas Torreira

We worked well on set pieces, we worked well on second actions and the long ball. The most important for us was to score the second ball to be more in control.

Are your players okay after such a physical match?

Yes, at the end the doctor said to me they are okay. Only it's the small injury in the first half to Torreira but I think he can be ready for Thursday.

Why Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac were dropped for Arsenal at Watford

It was a very physical match today but we responded well and the result gave us the opportunity to continue in our way, to be consistent in the table.

What happened with Torreira?

It's the same problem like Thursday [ football.london understands this is a pain in his groin]. It's a small pain. I am thinking he will be okay for Thursday.

Are you pleased with your team winning a physical battle like that?

Yes, the three points is the most important today. We worked to be consistent in our structure, defending their long balls and set pieces. Here they are a very strong team on that.

After with the ball I wanted to do better, to control better with one player more in the pitch. In some attacking moments for us we took chances to score the second goal but didn't score.

We needed to defend the last minutes closer to their actions in the long ball and second ball.

Who buys the wine next time you go for dinner with Gracia?

He is doing here a big job. Congratulations to them for the FA Cup Final and for this season. We know to win here was very important and difficult. They are hard and strong.

Could you reflect on Bernd Leno's improvements?

He has confidence and is helping us a lot. He is being competitive with Petr Cech. We are giving them two competitions, the Premier League for Leno and Europa League for Cech.

They are both giving us a lot in goal.

What does Carl Jenkinson need to do to get in the first team?

He is working well.
