How do you assess the game?
We are in the pre-season. Our objective was to take rhythm, take minutes and have confidence playing and also use different players mixed with the experienced players.
We want to win every match, this is not the most important but really we can see important things for us, for our ideas.
How excited are you to work with the young players?
For them it's important that each match and each training they give us their performance and energy. We have the responsibility with the young players to give them chances.
We want to use different young players to help. Some players will be with us in pre-season, some players will be with us in the season. Each minute they show their performance against big players. For example the one-to-one [Eddie] Nketiah against [Niklas] Sule showed how he can respond.
Today was very positive.
Will you really more on the young players?
It depends on their performance. Against Colorado Rapids a lot of young players played.
We need them for the moment but also in the future.
Our responsibility in this club for the history, present and future is to give young players chance. If they deserve minutes they'll get minutes. '’m very happy with them and their work.
We are going to play against Fiorentina on Saturday and will use young players. It's another chance for them to show us how they can respond.
What did you make of the support?
I'm really, really happy with our supporters in Denver on Monday and now here. They push us. They are helping us.
The atmosphere was very good. We can have a good feeling with our supporters when we are working, playing matches.
They pushed us to give the best for them. We appreciate this support.
What will you do to improve your team's mental strength?
Today was first about winning and then being competitive. We made that. This mentality we can create each day in training, each match like today.
We made progress last year with this idea. This year we can improve more and reduce the distance to the teams in teh table.
What did you make of Ainsley Maitland-Niles' struggles?
I spoke with him. It’s good to have this problem in the pre-season.
Today my objective with Ainsley and Sead [Kolasinac] above all; we were playing lots of matches last year with three centre-backs to allow them to go to the attacking moment. Today our target was to work defensively, the first objective is to keep the back four [protected].
They struggled in one moment because Bayern Munich have very good wingers. But it’s good.
It's one process for us and them. Individually when we can play maybe against players like Coman and Gnabry we can play five to have more balance.
Today one-to-one working is good for them.
How has Freddie Ljungberg helped so far?
Very positive. We worked last year with Steve Bould, Freddie with the Under-23s. We changed because for them it was a good option.
With Freddie we are working. Above all he's helping us with the young players because he knows better than us every young player.
For example Robbie [Burton], I didn't know Robbie. Freddie said to me he's a good player with the capacity to play as a 6 or 8. Really he helped us like we needed.
How has travel impacted your preparation?
It's positive. Our preparation is going to be playing with big teams like today, I prefer that.
This travel for us also allows us to be with our supporters worldwide, in Los Angeles, Charlotte, Denver and Washington. It's positive to be together.
