There has always been a big rivalry between Rangers and Hibs.
So when a young diehard Hibee pulls on that green shirt then it’s probably no surprise there is a little bit of an extra edge to his game.
But even allowing for that, the number of flashpoints Ryan Porteous has been caught up involving the Light Blues is quite something.
And it continued on Wednesday night as the 22-year-old conceded the late penalty which handed Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Light Blues all three points in Edinburgh.
Here, Record Sport takes a look back at the long list of incidents - on and off the park - that no-nonsense Porteous has been involved in with Rangers.
December 2018 - Coulibaly challenge
This was the first major incident with former Rangers loanee Lassana Coulibaly claiming the Hibs stopper could have ended his CAREER with his lunge in a 0-0 draw at Easter Road.
Porteous was booked for the horror tackle but rival bosses Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon both admitted he was lucky to escape with just a caution.
Coulibaly went further and the Malian international said at the time: “I am very lucky because I had jumped before Porteous tackled me, but he still caught me.
“If my leg had been planted on the ground, then it would have been much worse and I could have been out injured because of it.
“These types of tackles can injure someone so badly that they don’t play again.”
March 2019 - Frame reaction
Porteous posed with a portrait of him goading Alfredo Morelos as the Colombian lay on the turf following a challenge.
The former Scotland Under-21 man had personally signed the hand-painting which was done by Hibs fan Sean Nicol.
May 2019 - Insta story
The Hibs defender made matters worse over his challenge on Lassana Coulibaly by posting a picture of it on his Instagram at the end of that season.
He put the image on his picture sharing account as he celebrated being named the club’s Young Player of the Year.
December 2019 - Red mist
Given his marching orders for an X-rated lunge on Borna Barisic during a match at Easter Road for which he could have no complaints.
The tackle sparked a touchline rammy involving both dug-outs and it was described on social media by East Fife winger Danny Denholm as a “coward’s tackle”.
Steven Gerrard said: "Look, we all understand bad tackles, I've done a few myself, there's no problem with that. But you can't defend that.”
September 2020 - Ger out of my face
Steven Gerrard refused to shake the Hibs defender by the hand following a 2-2 draw at Easter Road at the start of last season.
Porteous was involved in a heated exchange with James Tavernier after allegedly calling him a sore loser.

Gerrard said: “Porteous was saying that Tav’s a bad loser, which I think is a bit cheap coming from him.
“He got sent off for a really bad tackle (on Borna Barisic) when he was losing 3-0 against us here last season”
October 2021 - Aribo 'leg breaker'
Porteous was sent off again for a challenge on Joe Aribo which angered Steven Gerrard.
The former Gers boss said: “I know one or two things about bad tackles because I have made a few myself - so I am not in a glass house here.
“It’s a WILD tackle - it’s a leg-breaking tackle if he catches him.”
The fallout was ugly, though, with boss Jack Ross revealing: “I have seen sectarian abuse, homophobic abuse, people telling him they hope he dies of a tumour.”
November 2021 - Premier banter
The defender enjoyed the Hampden celebrations more than most after Hibs booked a Premier Sports Cup final place thanks to a 3-1 win over Rangers.
And afterwards in his post-match interview he mocked departed Ibrox boss Gerrard with his “Do we look happy… don’t ask silly questions” quip.
Footage on social media also appeared to show him doing the Zombie nation dance used by rival fans to have a dig at Rangers.
December 2021 - Penalty pain
Rangers got revenge on Hibs and Porteous with the defender the fall guy after conceding a late penalty with a foul on Ryan Kent for Kemar Roofe to score the winner.

Jack Ross said: “There’s a spotlight that falls upon him in this fixture and he’s handled that really well.
"There will be a spotlight on him again over the concession of the penalty. But he’s shown tonight why he’s such a good young centre half."
