Every Premiership clash previewed as Rangers vs Hearts headlines throwback fixture card

The international break motors on but the promise of Premiership action returning is an enticing one.

There's a full card to be enjoyed this weekend, one that includes some stellar fixtures at both ends of the table.

The league's current top two collide as Hearts visit Rangers, while there's a late kick-off as Dundee host Aberdeen.

Celtic are on the road against Motherwell and Ross County are looking for their first win of the campaign when they welcome St Mirren to Dingwall.

It's one of those rare occurrences these days where every fixture is to be played on the Saturday, a throwback to old times.

Here's a look ahead to every game, all of which kick-off at 3pm apart from Dundee and Aberdeen's meeting on Tayside, which commences at 6pm.

Hibs vs Dundee United

Hibs can keep in touch with Premiership leaders Rangers should they defeat Tam Courts' Dundee United at Easter Road.

With Rangers and Hearts squaring off against each other at the same, both sides could take advantage at the upper reaches of the Premiership table.

Jack Ross will hope the likes of Martin Boyle, Kevin Nisbet and Josh Doig come through the international break unscathed. He will be without the suspended Ryan Porteous following his red card at Ibrox, one which Hibs failed to have overturned on appeal.

United keeper Trevor Carson withdrew injured from Northern Ireland duty and further updates on his fitness should be issued ahead of the weekend.

Motherwell vs Celtic

(SNS Group)

Ange Postecoglou and Celtic await another stern test after breaking their away day duck at Aberdeen.

The Parkhead boss has had more than his fair share of injuries to contend with but could welcome Josip Juranovic back in at Fir Park.

James Forrest is set to return to training but won't be "rushed", while Mikey Johnston remains a few weeks away from fitness.

Motherwell could potentially rise into third with victory - if results elsewhere go their way, as could Celtic as they look to claw back a six-point gap to leaders Rangers.

Ross County vs St Mirren

Ross County's search for a first league of the campaign goes on and they'll be hard-pressed to find it against a St Mirren side unbeaten in their last five.

Jim Goodwin will keep a close eye on Jamie McGrath as he remains on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Malky Mackay, meanwhile, has stated his intention to use the international break to get some valuable work in on the training pitch.

His side are second bottom - above only Dundee - but could climb up to ninth if they earn that elusive first three points.

St Johnstone vs Livingston

(SNS Group)

St Johnstone look like a team hitting form once again after a sluggish start to the Premiership season - Callum Davidson's side have won three of their last four.

Livi, meanwhile, have gone the opposite way since beating Celtic. David Martindale's side have lost three on the bounce after shocking the Hoops.

Jack Fitzwater, Odin Bailey, Andrew Shinnie and Jack McMillan all picked up injuries last time out against St Mirren to add to Martindale's already considerable fitness woes.

He's expected to provide an update later this week.

Rangers vs Hearts

Rangers consolidated their place at the league summit last time out but that win over Hibs sets this clash up as another first versus second affair.

The Ibrox side have a number of players on international duty and defender Leon Balogun picked up a knock while playing for Nigeria, raising the prospect of further concern for a backline that has already been stretched by fitness issues so far this season.

Ryan Jack is back in training for the reigning champions but this weekend is likely to come too soon for the midfielder.

Hearts have thus far avoided the injury crisis which has historically derailed these early pushes for top spot.

Manager Robbie Neilson is confident he'll have Craig Halkett available after the defender was taken off in the win over Motherwell.

Dundee vs Aberdeen

(SNS Group)

Dundee have welcomed Charlie Adam and Danny Mullen back to training ahead of their late kick-off clash with Aberdeen.

Leigh Griffiths could be back in contention as well after coming off injured in the defeat to Rangers. The striker is awaiting an SFA disciplinary hearing.

Aberdeen's Calvin Ramsay pulled out of Scotland U-21 duty through injury and manager Stephen Glass will likely provide an update on his fitness ahead of the weekend.

The Dons are looking to arrest a run of nine games without a win in all competitions.
