Jota, Danso, Gibson - The 30 players linked with Nottingham Forest this summer

The summer transfer window may have only just opened, but Nottingham Forest have already been linked with a number of players.

The Reds are sure to want to strengthen as they aim to go again with a promotion push.

And they will have until October 5 to do so, with the window closing at 11pm that day - although a domestic-only window will run until Friday, October 16.

There’s plenty of speculation about who may arrive at the City Ground in that time.

We’ve taken a look at the players linked so far.

Danijel Subasic

The Reds were said to be interested in the Croatian goalkeeper - a World Cup finalist with his country - following his release by AS Monaco.

However, fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos seem to be in pole position for his signature, with reports they have put forward a two-year deal.

Ivan Toney

The chances of bagging the Peterborough United forward appear slim, given the number of clubs rumoured to be chasing him.

West Bromwich Albion, Rangers and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are among those to have been linked, with Posh director of football Barry Fry having claimed 10 Premier League and Championship sides are interested.

It has been claimed Brentford have had a bid accepted, but Celtic are "locked in talks" and have not given up hope of getting a deal done.

Last week it was claimed that the Bees had sealed a £4m deal rising to £9m with add-ons. But those claims were denied by Posh owner Darragh McAnthony.

Rob Dickie

Reports suggested Forest were "leading the race" for the Oxford United defender, with Southampton, Burnley, Derby County and Fulham also linked.

Manager Karl Robinson has said he is resigned to losing him.

He has said: “I’ve had a conversation today that blew me away when you think of the size of this club that would be interested in the likes of Rob.

“You can’t keep that player if these clubs come in, so re-spend it to give yourself the greatest opportunity to build again for the future.”

He added: “To be honest, I don’t think it’s right to keep Rob back.

“He will always be someone I’ll look back on as one of the nicest young men I’ve ever worked with.

“But keeping hold of him is going to be extremely difficult.”

Morgan Fox

The defender was offered a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday, but has decided to move on to pastures new, joining Stoke City.

Simon Terodde

The striker seems likely to leave FC Koln this summer - and Forest, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers have all been mentioned as possible destinations.

Reports have suggested the 32-year-old has "received requests" to move to the Championship.

But it is said "he would prefer to see his future in Germany".

Stephane Bahoken

The Reds apparently tried to sign the Cameroon international in January, with reports in France claiming he turned down the opportunity as he didn't want to leave midway through the season.

But Ouest France have said Forest's head of international recruitment, Jose Anigo, has retained an interest in the Angers striker.

And the suggestion is he could leave his club “in the event of an attractive offer”.

Jack Colback

A free agent after being released by Newcastle United, the midfielder has returned to Forest on a permanent basis.

Lyle Taylor

Like Colback, the forward was also available on a free after leaving Charlton Athletic. He too has signed for Forest.

Lawrence Shankland

Similarly to Colback, this is one link which has been around for some time.

The Reds were first mentioned last summer and speculation then resurfaced in January, before it was claimed in May that they faced a "tug of war" with Stoke City.

Dundee United sporting director Tony Ashgar has previously said he is braced for bids for the front man, but boss Micky Mellon has issued his own "hands off" warning.

Oumar Gonzalez

Reports in France have claimed the Chambly defender has been the subject of a second bid from Forest after one was rejected in January.

And the Cameroon Under-23 international has made no secret of his admiration for English football.

"When you are a professional footballer you do not know what tomorrow is made of," Gonzalez said in May.

"It is true that England is a championship that I really appreciate, it’s a bit my style in duels and contacts."

Corey Blackett-Taylor

Able to play on either flank, the youngster was one of the standout performers for Tranmere Rovers in a season which saw them relegated to League Two.

Perhaps inevitably there has been speculation about his future, with the Reds and Celtic linked.

Forest certainly need to add a winger during the transfer window.

Brown Ideye

The forward is on the lookout for a new club after turning down the offer of extending his contract to see out the season in Greece with Aris Thessaloniki.

He was linked with a switch to the City Ground back in March, with the Reds said to be 'in the running' for his signature.

He has previously played for West Bromwich Albion, as well as Olympiacos.

Ike Ugbo

Plenty of clubs are said to have an eye on the young Chelsea forward - Forest apparently among them.

When speculation emerged, it was said more than a dozen teams are interested, so competition would be tough - West Ham United, Watford, Crystal Palace, Derby County and West Brom have also been mentioned.

Ugbo has been on loan at Dutch second tier side Roda JC, and it is reported the Blues would be willing to loan him out again.

Bruno Paz

This is one link which is said to have come to an end.

Reports in Portugal said Forest had seen a 1.5m euros bid rejected for the Sporting Lisbon youngster back in May.

And A BOLA have since claimed, with an agreement unable to be reached, the midfielder is likely to head elsewhere this summer, saying: "England will no longer be the destination."

Mbaye Diagne

The striker seemed to hint at a move to the City Ground with a cryptic Instagram post earlier this year.

That came on top of much speculation about Forest being linked with a 7m euros move, with Leeds United and Watford also said to be keen.

But after a tough loan spell at Belgian outfit Club Brugge, all the signs are Diagne will remain with parent club Galatasaray.

Oliver Skipp

The Tottenham midfielder was linked with Forest but has joined Norwich on loan.

Kevin Danso

Forest have been linked with a move for Austrian defender Kevin Danso.

The 21-year-old has played in the Premier League this season for Southampton, during a loan move from Bundesliga side Augsburg.

He moved to St Mary's on a season-long deal, with an option for the Saints to buy him this summer.

He played six times for Southampton in the top flight - and played a further four matches for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side in the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

And it is reported that Forest are keen to bring him to the City Ground.

Kieron Freeman

Nottingham Forest want to bring Kieron Freeman back to the City Ground but must fend off two Championship rivals to do so.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are eager to re-sign the defender who started his career at the City Ground before leaving for Derby in 2012.

But they face stiff competition from Swansea City and Huddersfield with Freeman currently a free agent following his departure from Sheffield United.

The 28-year-old made just seven appearances for the Blades last season with just two coming in the Premier League.

George Friend

The experienced left-back was linked with a free transfer, but chose to join former Reds boss Aitor Karanka at Birmingham.

Fotis Ioannidis

Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis will not be joining Nottingham Forest after completing a move to Panathinaikos.

Recent reports from Greece suggested that the Reds were making a late move to land the 20-year-old forward.

However, Ioannidis has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Panathinaikos.

Luke Freeman

Sheffield United have already seen one bid rejected for Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash, but it has been revealed there could be a way to get a deal done this summer.

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi was keen to bring attacking midfielder Luke Freeman to the City Ground in January in a move which failed to materialise.

Forest’s minimum asking price for Cash is believed to be £15m, while it has been claimed Chris Wilder’s Blades have offered £6m, which was immediately turned down by the Championship club.

Now it has been reported by the Athletic that should the Blades include Freeman in a player plus money deal for Cash, then the Reds are likely to be more open to striking a deal.

Korey Smith

Swansea City are reportedly beat Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City to the signing of midfielder Korey Smith.

The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after parting company with Bristol City.

Tyler Blackett

Forest have landed former Reading defender Blackett, 26, on a free transfer after the left the Royals.

Ben Gibson

Forest could be offered Burnley defender Ben Gibson as part of a swap deal for Joe Worrall, according to reports.

The Clarets have been linked with a summer swoop for Worrall, along with fellow Premier League club Sheffield United.

Now The Sun is reporting that Burnley would be willing to include Gibson in a deal to land the Forest centre-back.

However, the article adds that Worrall is seeking assurances that he will get first-team football at Turf Moor.

Jacob Murphy

Reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Jacob Murphy is being eyed by Rangers.

The Newcastle United winger was linked with a move to Forest last week and Championship rivals Derby County, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday were also credited with an interest.

Wednesday are said to be keen to bring Murphy back to Hillsborough after spending the 2019-20 season on loan in Yorkshire, where he scored nine goals and registered six assists.

However, Rangers have now been linked with a move for Murphy, with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard putting the former Norwich City man's name on a transfer shortlist.

Burnley have enjoyed success with current centre-back pairing James Tarkowski and Ben Mee.

Sheyi Ojo

Forest are interested in a move for Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo, claims a report by Goal.com.

The 23-year-old wide man looks set to leave Anfield on a permanent basis this summer and has a list of Championship clubs keen on landing his services.

Ojo has enjoyed loan stays with Wigan, Wolves and Fulham in recent season but remains well out of Jurgen Klopp's first-team picture after a mixed spell with Rangers last term.

Siriki Dembele

Darragh MacAnthony hinted earlier this month that Nottingham Forest were in talks with one of his players.

Rumours were abound that it was £10m-rated Ivan Toney before the Peterborough United owner poured cool water on those links, but could it have been Toney’s strike partner at London Road?

Football Insider claim Forest, who agreed a deal for Lyle Taylor over the weekend, are in the hunt for Siriki Dembele along with a host of other top flight and Championship clubs.

David Tavares

Midfielder David Tavares could become the latest arrival at Nottingham Forest from Portuguese giants Benfica.

The 21-year-old attacking player has been linked with a City Ground move before the end of the transfer window, according to Record PT.

Tavares is not, according to Record, in the plans of boss Jorge Jesus at the Stadium of Light, and will be allowed to make the switch to Nottingham to follow in the footsteps of Yuri Ribeiro and Joao Carvalho, among others.

Mathieu Peybernes

Forest and Swansea City are battling to sign French defender Mathieu Peybernes according to reports.

Radio Marca say the Championship sides are both interested in the 29-year-old who is deemed surplus to requirements at Deportiva Almeria.

The report claims that it will cost both sides one million Euros to complete the switch for the former France under-21 international who has attracted interest from Getafe and Levante.

Peybernes spent last season on loan at Lugo and produced a string of excellent performances which secured him the player of the season crown.

Jota

Exciting forward Jota looks set to leave Benfica this summer after being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

However, the Reds would face severe competition for his signature from rivals in England, as well as clubs in Spain.

Portuguese outlet OJOGO name Forest as a suitor for the player, but say 'several' sides are keen.

The 21-year-old has struggled to establish himself at the Portuguese giants, but is still seen as one of the country's brightest prospects.
