Every James Bond theme song to be performed by live orchestra in Bristol

Whether you're a fan of James Bond films or indifferent, it's hard to deny that the theme songs are usually absolute belters.

Alongside other cinema franchise giants such as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, Ian Fleming's creation is iconic for its use of music as much as the content of its narrative.

Its theme tunes have unified almost half a century of films, with many changes of lead actor, director and mood along the way.

Some of the most famous singers of all time have offered their vocal talents on Bond songs including Madonna, Adele, Shirley Bassey and Sheryl Crow, creating unforgettable songs such as Goldfinger and Skyfall.

And next year a talented orchestra will perform every Bond song through the decades live in Bristol, from Dr No, released in 1962, through to Spectre, which was released in 2015.

Taking place at the O2 Academy on Friday, March 27, the event forms part of Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival, which will see the city come alive with music across a weekend in March.

The concert takes place just one month before No Time To Die is released and will be conducted by the award-winning Charles Hazelwood.

A spokesman said: "This dazzling show features every James Bond movie theme from 1962’s Dr No all the way through to 2015’s Spectre.

"Each iconic track has been faithfully transcribed and will be performed by a hand-picked 30-piece orchestra, along with guest vocalists and conducted by Charles Hazlewood.

"From the first haunting notes of Monty Norman’s original guitar-led big band theme, the music of James Bond has created the soundtrack to all of our lives.

"Whatever your favourite era of Bond, it’s here in all its large-scale orchestral glory!"

Tickets priced at £22 plus booking fee go on sale on the festival's website on Saturday, December 14.
