Martin Lewis has issued a warning to every driver in the UK about a common mistake that could see them fined £1,000.
Martin raised the issue in his latest Money Saving Expert newsletter, warning that drivers should act now to avoid a hefty penalty.
The newsletter said: "Check your driving licence renewal date - DON'T risk a fine of up to £1,000.
"Last year the DVLA gave an extra 11 months to renew many licences due to the pandemic, but it means 100,000s more than usual are now due."
Martin's website - Money Saving Expert - said that around two million people have an out-of-date driving licence.
If you don't renew it you could be slapped with a fine of up to £1,000 and it is relatively easy to renew your licence, so people shouldn't wait to do it.
Drivers whose licences expired between 1 February 2020 and 31 December 2020 were given an automatic 11-month extension from the date of expiry to renew them.
So this means that those drivers whose licences expired last July or August should be renewing theirs now.
Photocard licences have to be renewed every ten years and the photo must also be replaced every ten years.
The licence expiry date is printed on section 4b of the front of your driving licence.
It costs £14 to renew, or £17 if you renew it by post and there are several ways to renew your licence.
You can apply online at gov.uk as long as you've got a valid UK passport.
You can apply via post by getting forms from the DVLA or post office and you can apply in person at selected post offices, who will charge you an extra £4.50 to take your photo.
