Every Day by David Levithan - review

A has travelled to and from other people's bodies since he was born. He has no control over this, and can only stay for a day. This means whatever memories A has, whatever dreams or hopes or people he wants to remember, he has to hang on tightly- otherwise he'll forget. But one day, A wakes up in the body of Justin - boyfriend of Rihannon, and desperately falls in love with her, so he'll do whatever he can to reach her. But that's not the only problem. One person has experienced what it feels like to have A inside your body, and will do anything to make sure the world knows about the dangers of this 'demon'.

The plot, I thought, was brilliant. The author described the emotions and thoughts of the character so well, and you could almost believe you were there, alongside A, in the body he inhabited. The interesting thing was A visited a range of people of different appearances and characteristics, not just one type. You also couldn't see what was coming at all until the very end.

I loved this book. It was gripping, emotional, sad, terrifying, romantic, strange, and beautiful all at the same time. The only problem was that it had quite an abrupt ending, and I found myself turning the last page, only to be shown the acknowledgments. I so desperately wanted the book to carry on!

I would really recommend this book - I think anyone could read it (aged 13+), even if you don't like the sound of it. I assure you it is one of the best books I have ever read. I would rate this book an 8.5 or even 9/10.
